President Bush looked tooo good landing on that carrier.

Actually, nothing has changed except they are out of power and they plan to get it back one way or another.

"HATE" they just plain "HATE" President Bush.

JFKerry can't exactly brag about his service after he received his medals. So he made an defensive move to muddy the water about what is known about himself, and while he was at it trying to make National Guard service look like nothing because that is where President Bush learned to fly.

They are trying to do to the military and the victory in Iraq equated same as Vietnam. Remember their complaints then well it is same tune played with different words 40 years later. Wonder who they will get this go round to come back and testify before Congress about the "evil" deeds of our military.

Their "band" the media loves this aspect of their plan, because they "HATE" President Bush just as much as anyone.

The way I see it is in some ways it boils down to a juvenile mentality. So much of the way liberals operate is reminiscent of the worst about one's years in high school.

One current example: The AP (or, for that matter, a great many among the print media) are like those snotty H.S. Yearbook editors who can decide to include 10 pictures of their cheerleaders, one awful, candid shot of someone they used to date and now can't stand, and a typographical error in another's name just to ruin that person's memories of high school even more.

The media are largely at fault for the military service being a supposed issue for voters. They brought it up with Dan Quayle, too, remember.

(1) He may have seemed defensive because he was parlaying with a prosecutorial interviewer who was probing for weaknesses.

(2) For those in the MTP audience who were a-political I think he did well. He was sincere and poised, wise enough to avoid the traps Russert set for him.

(3) The interview was just what I was looking for to feel positive about the upcoming campaign.

Fair enough, I'll retract that.

OTOH, how is one to know? If I get challenged by a poster for my questioning Bush's policy RE immigration, it's usually some comment that I want to elect Kerry or some other rant. Since few actually seem disagree with the President on the issue, one can only surmise that they likely support Bush's immigration policy or perhaps the budget/entitlement issues.

There's no obligation for you to reveal what you may disagree with the President about, I guess. I just want the same consideration.

FR will be no better that DU if we can't freely express our sentiments on these important issues.

I agree with you but I also think the Dims are doing more of their finger in the wind attitude change that occurred during the Clintoon years. THey saw how the president polled after 9/11. He believed in action not rhetoric. He was a comissioned officer who had served in the armed forces of our country and the people loved and respected that. The Dims, desperate to find a backbone when it came to terrorism before the people realized they in fact had none, tossed out John F'n Kerry and an egotistical backbiting ex-Army General who was FIRED from his post to try and defeat and defelct their credibility gap on the military and national defense. The Dims can crow all they want to now about "momentum" and "electability" and point to trumped up poll numbers in Lib magazines. But remember this, elections aren't won in Febuary.

Russert was in an attack mode with the Clinton DemocRAT Talking Points from the first question on -- like another poster said, there was none of the Thank you Mr. President for doing this interview. Russert attacked immediately.

To many East Coast types on here don't seem to get it that a lot of us in Middle America on West like the plain speaking talk from the President from Texas -- you don't have to be concerned with spin and lies from this man. You would think after 8 years of Clinton people wouldn't want someone that could snow them with lies because they were a good speaker.

Would like to see the pro "articulate" types on here sit down and have questions spit at them like I saw Russert just do this morning.

IMHO, you cannot beat someone who is down to earth, who believes so deeply in the good of America, because when they answer the questions, they do it from the heart not based on anything else. If I wanted someone to answer questions that everyone wanted to hear the answers, I would be a DemocRAT instead of a staunch Republican.

When a host like Russerts brings up poll numbers of Pres Bush around the world and in Europe, it shows their agenda. He did a fantastic job of telling Russert that Pres Reagan's numbers in Europe were not very good either. Showed me that when a President stands up for America and what is right around the world, the European liberals cannot stand it.

Another funny moment to me is when Russert asked about a larger role for the UN in Iraq and Pres Bush said flat out the UN is not going to be spending our money in Iraq that the Congress appropriated. That was priceless.

Take it from me -- President Bush, the plain spoken man from Texas hit it out of the park up against a rabid, nasty, Clinton Talking point interviewer, Tim Russert.

I'm just catching up on this thread.

I think that part of the problem for the Democrats is that they are stuck in a bubble (as a columnist a few months ago pointed out). Did you notice how Russert used a poll of South Carolina Democrats and Independents to show that 75% of the people don't like the President? What would he expect a poll of Democrats to say, especially on primary day?

If the Democrats keep believing information like that, they will delude themselves into seeing a reality that doesn't exist.

Or by making sure that we all go to the polls and make sure obstructionist Dims like Daschole and others who have blocked or diluted Republican bills and held up the nomination of federal judges are shown the door.

I think GWB only did that interview for one reason - to let his supporters know that he has everything under control and the campaign is getting under way. He succeeded.

BTW, very strange answer on Osama...do you think we might have him? Or at least we might be close? There is a website out there that says we already have him but are working things out with Iran.

Democrats: Bush knew. Bush lied. Bush was a deserter. Bush manipulated the evidence in order to get our troops killed in an unnecessary war. Bush: Always polite. Have you ever heard him throw those kind of charges against any democrat since he's been elected? I haven't, even though they're evil, hateful and vicious. Who's the divider again?

That game also works with the "extremist" charge.

Bush is the worst president ever! The bill is the worst bill ever. Bush's judges are the most unqualified ever.

Can you get more extremist than calling Bush the "worst ever?"

The Dims had better be careful about slamming the national Guard too harshly. They vote too.

I have served in both in the active duty and the National Guard. I have seen units in the GUard that were jsut as sharp and ready to go as any in the regular army jsut as I have seen units in the regulary army that resembled all the stereotypes people have about soldiers in the guard.

And lets not forget that a lot of FORMER active duty soldiers decided to keep serving by joing the Guard and Reserve.

Bottom line is this. No matter where you serve Active, Reserve or Guard, you' re still doing something that 99% of this country doesn't HAVE to do. Guard and Reserve ALL go through the same tough basic training that the active folks and are taught at the same AIT schools too. And more importantly, we have ALL pledged the same oath to pretect this country with our lives if necessary.

Slamming someone's service in the Guard and REserve is going to blow up in their faces on election day.

I am someone who has had to work over years on the *fillers* like *uh...uh*. It isn't always a good presentation as it makes the speaker sound dogmatic and unsympathetic to the listener. I have been told *when you are finished speaking, there is nothing left for anyone else to say* and I am able to
cover a lot of material in a short time by leaving out the spacers. I also have had to work on my tendency to write like this, which makes the text way too dense for most preople to assimilate easily.

I believe the President has had coaching. I think he conciously avoids sounding like a slick silver tongue. Out here in the boonies, we hate slicks.
