"The economy's not bad, but other than that I agree with your assessment."

I didn't say the economy was bad.

I am with you -- I never watch the Sunday morning talk shows including Russert -- great reminder why when he started spitting out the questions. Total disrespect for the President.

Hope Rush saw the interview so he will stop that Russert is a fair interviewer.

I will watch for the same tone and redundant questions when Kerry is interviewed by Russert.I expect the same reminders of "people say".He wouldn't throw softballs,I am sure.

I thought he did quite well, but you will probably want to scan through the thread because a few disagree. Russert didn't bring up too many issues in the interview---WMD, AWOL, jobs/economy, even Skulls & Bones. :o)

It's always interesting to see how they spin things. being a Democrat means never having to take responsibility for anything you do nor be held accountable for your words or actions. That's how they can morph from one side of an issue, law or belief so easily and with no remorse.

These people view myself and other soldiers as more of a Peace Corps in camoflauge. Clintoon displayed that belief in all of the places he sent us that we should NOT have gone and by not using us when he SHOULD have.

And here's a question for everyone. Why is is that 12 years ago, the issue of a presidential candidate having served or not served in the military was "not important" and the Republicans were slammed for bringing this up about Clintoon. Even John F'n Kerry went to the Well in the Senateand railed about the Republicans "refighting the Vietnam War". Yet here we have a former Fighter Pilot in the Air National Guard serving rather successfully as not on the POTUS but aslo as CINC of the Armed Forces who are prosecuting a global war on terror and suddenly military service is important to the Dims. What changed?

"GW did a terrific job here with Russert. Even some of the brighter Dems at a Dem site are grudingly conceeding that."

Good to hear that, Summer!

Tancredo is supporting GWB. Tancredo's plan will likely get signed by POTUS if it can clear the Congress.

We want to make sure of that.

The qualifier is will Tancredo's plan get passed intact in the House & Senate? Only way that happens is with a massive lobbying effort from the President.

I'm not hearing that yet.

"Only way that happens is with a massive lobbying effort from the President."

Or by making sure that we all go to the polls and make sure obstructionist Dims like Daschole and others who have blocked or diluted Republican bills and held up the nomination of federal judges are shown the door.

Thanks. I did look through some above posts, but the opinions are so wide ranging it's impossible to tell...sounds like Russert was petulant, but if Bush remained above the fray most people are smart enough to see the dynamic and give Bush the benefit of the doubt.

No I think you are wrong. People have been saying bad stuff about the President. Russert just asked Bush his side of the story. As in..."People are saying this......What do you say? How do you answer them?" And if Bush has good answers then GREAT! As long as you have a good answers there is no reason to be afraid or angry about tough questions.

Let's get one thing clear up front, DtD: The president is not "afraid" nor did he appear "angry" at "tough" questions.

Now, as to your characterization that "people have been saying bad stuff". David Kay has been giving interviews and testified before a Senate committee in recent days. I, with many other freepers, watched that Kay hearing live and made notes of what was said. Further, George Tenet gave an excellent speech last Thursday morning at Georgetown University. Both the Kay and the Tenet comments contained much information that was very favorable indeed to President Bush and his administration. The only thing that happened then were the dems and the willing media handmaidens plucked selectively from those comments and outright ignored the rest.

That is what I and others have stated on this thread. That if I know what Kay and Tenet have said, then so does Tim Russert. I have no problem with Russert pointing out the spin dems are giving these reports. But he went further and acted as if that spin is the total state of the record and took it from there. That is deceptive.

The president addressed the Russert questions, then after he answered quite ably, Russert asked it again. The president did well, Russert plainly had an agenda.

In YOUR opinion, the interview did not go well. You are entitled to your opinion. In case you haven't noticed, most of us do not agree with YOUR OPINION.

Have you noticed how the pictures of Dukakis and Kerry together have virtually disappeared off the internet?

The only picture is off a time magazine page.

It is as if kerry found them all before they could be posted.

What changed?Why,the dem candidate's military record,of course!.
I am more interested in his record after the war.I realize my disdain for his Jane Fonda period only resonates with some people, but his votes on the military funding, intelligence, taxes, etc will matter. He is a lefty liberal.

I DO NOT TRUST HIM!

I know a journo who interviwed Cheney back in the 1970s. This is a man who served as a journo in Nam and is not a wimp. He said Cheney scared the he!! out of him, mainly because he gives no obvious body-language-type feedback and it is impossible to tell what he is thinking. This prevents the interviewer from knowing if they have *scored* or not and gives Cheney control of the situation.

They want to get rid of Cheney because they simply have not been able to marginalize him, despite a lot of attempts.

Which makes me think that the DNC does not want anyone to hear what President Bush might say on the issue,/i>

Exactly so. The Dems do not want their position on it revealed;they are enjoying the reactors too much and know if their manifestos are opened up, they'll be exposed for who and what they truly are.
