"'They' might want to be able to say "Gotcha!" -- but they can't!"

The timing of this appearance is perfect. Now its going to take a few more months for the DNC to fabricate other issues.

I predict "exit strategy" will pop up as one of those issues.

Overall, Our President did great.

And who would look at Bush and say he looks like the Marlboro Man

A man planning on attending the "MA Summer of Love".

Maybe Kerry is now planning on dumpng his wife for Soros. He does have a history of trading up.

I think I was distracted by Bush's stammering, he really should work on that. When I read his statements they are direct and strong. But all the stammering and...uh...uh uh's put me off. He needs to get some coaching or something. A lot of people say uh...uh...uh when they speak. I wonder what causes that.

It upsets me when Rush and Sean Hannity go out of their way to describe Tim Russert as a "fair" interviewer...he is most definitely a liberal tool of the biased media.

You missed nothing. I was amazed that in an hour interview with the President, none of that was touched on.

Russert had tunnel vision. WMD, WMD, WMD, WMD.....

Why? The only answer is that he sees that as the Presidents biggest problem.

Nope. I voted for G.H.W Bush - and expected him to win, he would have except for crazy Perot.

I love Bush so I hate to say this but I don't think it went well. He stammerd too much and went around in circles.

Then I suggest you watch again when it airs later. Perhaps you were nervous for the president and it clouded your perception? For he did not stammer and he was direct and plain spoken as always.

The next admin official need to come out and answer seriosu questions is Cheney. Cheney is weighing down the ticket. He should NOT be hiding in his own spiderhole and not dealing with the facts. Smoke Cheney out to deal with the facts or dump him in 2004. I am convince the low approvals of Cheney is hurting Bush bad here.

(Insert note to self here. Keep in mind that Cheney took on a job that could kill him. And still could.)

I didn't see it as stammering. It seemed to me he was trying to be thoughtful and honest, and looking for the right words to get his point across. True, he may not be a "polished" speaker, but I think he comes across as an honest speaker.

I'll give you my PERSONAL OPINION from one of my previous replies on the issue and then let this thread get back to the pertinent topic:

"As for President Bush's thinking on the immigration issue, I believe it's part of his personal and political integrity in that he chose to take what could be called a pre-emptive position. If he did not address the illegal immigration and put the problem on the plate for Congress to deal with, he would be accused of letting it silently stew much like the previous administration did with terrorism. He brought it to the table before it boiled over into something much worse.

He knows that his opponents would eventually have to address it and their solutions would be far less restrictive and a far greater burden economically. He also knows it is up to Congress to work out a solution, similar to the way a CEO brings problematic issues to a board meeting and asks the members to come up with their answers. Does a CEO who has union members working for his company not at least attempt initially to negotiate with their representative when those members threaten to go on strike? While that CEO may not give in to whatever demands are being made, he at least tries a diplomatic solution. Look at the outcry over 9/11 detainees and expect that a thousand-fold if he were to suggest what many here are calling for.

We have a serious issue with a country whose borders touch our own. Is it even really feasible to propose a mass deportation? And how shall it be done, boxcar trains, perhaps?"

Russert played the Rats's cards by showing Kerry's comments, which, by any analysis, were political and demeaning to the President.

I agree. I'd say that Bush paused thoughtfully. That is not the same thing as stammering.

I don't want a "glib" president.

Bush can work on the stammering after Hillary stops saying "you know".

I thought the President did a fantastic job. Russert came across as "mean". Kerry also came across as classless for the quote they showed about knowing President Bush at Yale.

My husband thought the only bad thing was President Bush's remarks about Vietnam being a political war. He thinks that the masses will not understand the point the President was making and instead twist it to the Iraq War.

I didn't see it that way though.
