Vanity: [FR Poll] If it's Kerry vs Bush how will you vote?
2/7/2003 | FR

I thought because there is a poll on FR that says "If it's Kerry vs Bush how will you vote?" it would be good to start a thread on the matter for people to explain how they voted in the poll, if they choose to do so.

I'm glad you brought up that we're at war and that deficits are "necessary". Let me ask you this - given the shady nature of the adversary, when exactly does this war end? How does it end? Or is this now going to be a permanent fixture of the national political dialogue - that we're at war, so don't question our spending? Spending discipline is always a good thing, and I don't see enough of that from this supposedly Republican president. Assuming all the WOT expenses are justified (and I'm inclined to think it is) what about all the rest? Medicare, for example?

I have to disagree with you on the first part. I think that it has to affect the candidates somewhat when they see growing numbers of people either not voting or voting for a third party. Even Rove has stated the importance of getting certain parties on the side of Republicans in the 2000 election. Say a large group of the electorate, evangelicals (Christians) for example, were to hypothetically sit out more than one election, what would happen? How would a candidate try to regain that vote?

True, but when it comes to the presidential elections in real time, it doesn't, but I guess it will over the years maybe, say between two elections, in that it could affect how the losing party's candidate reorganizes its platform.

Eventually, and I'm not saying necessarily in 2004, this is going to happen. A protest vote from the right will eventually occur to the point that it will make the Republican party realize they can't continually keep moving to gain votes.

I don't know if that can affect the presidential level politics.

Everyone here want to " force " their opinion. But, unlike you, who are an Irish citizen, this IS an election that I can and shall vote in.

This isn't an IRISH election.Your opinion is irrelevant.

"I swear to God I am going to vote for Kerry just because he had the gonads to NOT buy his way out of service. Like he easily could have. The GOP has had every chance to run a Vietnam Vet. But somehow can't get themselves to do it. I think the country will survive a Kerry Presidency if my one vote puts him in office.

And the pleasure it will give me to vote for another Vietnam Vet is priceless."

Have you ever looked into what your hero John Kerry had to say about you and the others who served in Vietnam after he got back to the states?

Would you like me to post the links for you? If you think that privileged scumbag cares a lick about you, or any other Vietnam Vet, you're a fool

Shortly after GWB was sworn in, the NYT's started writing 3 to 5 articles a day about Illegal immigration and how the problem must be addressed, a subject completely off the table when Slick Willy was in office, why so many people fall for this tactic by the left is beyond me.

And with the Headlines I'm seeing lately .. they liberal press/media is pulling the same old stunt

Why is my opinion irrelevant?
Can't I voice an opinion to the dozen or so friends of mine living, and working NYC?
Or my family in Boston?

Explain to me HOW my opinion is irrelevant, when I write an opinion column in an Irish newspaper, where people with proxy votes for the US election live?

Please explain, nopardons.

Oh you hit the after Christmas sale at toy r us? Drive 4 cars? Hmm Next ,you'll tell me what they all are,, none under $50 k,right? Damn,I wish I had boots on.

Actually they are all under 50K by quite a bit. they are transportation, since I retired 2 years ago at 47 I no longer need flashy cars to impress my clients. besides I only have a 2 car garage at each house, so I would have nowhere to put them.

P.S. when are you gonna grow up and get a real job instead of lining up at the trough with the rest of the useless government employees?

Where is the "protest vote" from the left? Nowhere to be found, obviously. What does that tell you?

One thing I'll say about the Democratic Party, as repugnant as I find it.....their ideals, their morals, and their candidates. They are extremely loyal to their party.

It's irrelevant because he doesnt like your opinion. If you were FReeping from Ireland and you were in-line with whatever it is that nopardons is saying, you'd be allright.

However, if Bush comes to shove and the polls indicate the election could go either way, both in Washington state and nationwide, I may hold my nose and vote for Bush in November.

Agreed - Kerry would be a disaster.

I'm shocked! What is that thing about Jewish people voting for Democrats (Marxists)? I just don't get it. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

As you are referring to "that thing" you must already have an opinion on it. What is it?

With all due respect, you would have been the LAST person on this earth, I would have thought, to be undecided between Bush and Kerry. What am I missing?

Where did I say I am undecided between Bush and Kerry? "Undecided" meant I hadn't chosen yet how I will vote among the many choices the poll had.

One issue voters, who would rather cut of their nose, to spite their face, deserve everything coming to them, but the rest of us don't!

President Bush is as Conservative as Reagan and on some points, more so.

And, should, GOD forbid, Bush loses, and Kerry is elected president, YOU and your ilk WILL be responsible. But boy, oh boy, you will have "showed 'em" alright, alright.

Just vote for your heart's desire and pull the Dem lever.........you are NO Conservative! Heck, you aren't even a RINO; you're a dog in the manger.

Haven't you heard? The President has announced he is cutting the budget for next session. The Medicare issue is open for privatization/insurance and HMO regulation that will save money for all seniors. There is a great deal of knee-jerk ignorance behind all of this rhetoric.

None of it has even taken place yet but the hyperventillators are piping mad about something they know very little about.
