DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- When you boil it all down, the Budweiser Shootout is nothing but a glorified practice among 19 drivers to see who has the best Daytona 500 backup car.
So why is it always so intense?
Why do 22 drivers -- pole winner from 2003 and previous Shootout winners -- go after it so hard?
Well, it's simple. It's a race. There's money on the line. Did we mention it was a race?
"It's like a bar fight, but the car takes the beating," defending Budweiser Shootout winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

Right now, I would imagine that some ARCA official is, right now, in the #77 driver's face hard. I would say that a fine will follow.

#77 called to the trailer.
"Your license please....."

Can we have a countdown? Just took the dog out, getting dinner ready as posted and will be in chair and waiting at 4:30pm PST for countdown to green on TNT.
One hour and seven minutes to go....

NASCAR begins using hand signals"Those include an arm held as if the official is looking at his watch to indicate a 15-second penalty, an arm in the air with the fist closed to indicate one lap, waving an arm back and forth overhead to indicate a pass through penalty, the official patting his rear end to indicate a driver must go to the back of the longest line, and pointing to the ground for a stop and go.

I wish I could find that picture to post of KB signaling JS pointing to his rear. I have it on my eyetide screensaver, but that doesn't transfer over here.
Clydesdales just passed the cars on pit row.........29 minutes to pre-race show.
