NASCAR Nextel Cup 2004 Budweiser Shootout - February 7 , TNT race start 8pmET 5pmPT

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- When you boil it all down, the Budweiser Shootout is nothing but a glorified practice among 19 drivers to see who has the best Daytona 500 backup car.

So why is it always so intense?

Why do 22 drivers -- pole winner from 2003 and previous Shootout winners -- go after it so hard?

Well, it's simple. It's a race. There's money on the line. Did we mention it was a race?

"It's like a bar fight, but the car takes the beating," defending Budweiser Shootout winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

Load up that beer fridge Norm. The first sure sign of spring is at hand!

We're having roast Boston butt, funeral potatoes, and broccoli in garlic white sauce. It'll essentially cook itself... it's a slow oven thing :o)

O.K. You have made a beer run but Ya gotta ask...

Did You get enough? (we know how You are, always running off to get more in the middle of the race.)

Tonights menu here is: Blue Cheese stuffed burgers/fresh made Jalepeno Poppers/hand cut FF's and Blue Bell Moo-linieum Ice Cream.

Well time to go play in the trenchline for a little longer

Glad to see you sought counseling during the darkest days for a Nascar Fan.

I'm watching the ARCA race to calm down but the way they are wrecking cars it is not helping me much.

I see you are hoping Mark Martin gets it up this year...

That was a great race by Kyle Busch. The rest were an accident waiting to happen and it did.
