Harry Rapkin Rapken, whatever- was just on tv. He can't sleep and he's afraid for his family. He's received phone calls. Such is life. What goes around comes around. He was trying to say it wasn't his fault. It was a multiple failure on many levels imo. I called this Judge's voicemail and outside of saying that he was as disgusting as Pinellas County's Judge Greer, Baird and Demers, I wasn't "wacky". He said he got some calls from deranged people. Oh really? I'm not surprised. Everyone including the girl's real dad is asking for an investigation of why this serial predator-kidnapper was out walking around. His coke charge from last year "could have" put him away for FIVE years but he got probation. INVESTIGATE THAT, GOVERNOR BUSH.

I don't like sleepovers at all and have refused them all for my kids (they are sons and don't seem to care as much).
I remember all the mischief I got into with my girlfriends during sleepovers. I don't even like the crabby children the next day (from lack of sleep). And I definitely don't like the loss of safety involved.
When parents are asleep (or worse: what if the parents seem upstanding but are raging alcoholics or simply retreat to their master chambers and do not hear a thing for hours while the kids are basically unsupervised... with some of today's homes, this is possible) who knows what could happen. Another child could say "It's OK if we go to the store to get cereal while Mom and Dad are still in bed, they let me" and your child could be so thrilled at the exciting prospect that s/he is led along.
Naw, I think today's situations call for an alert parent around until about age 18!

I think it's spelled Harry M. Rapkin. Sarasota-Manatee County is the 12th District. He just held a press conference. See my last post. They're afraid of retaliation by the public. The shoe's on the other foot and Harry's afraid. The criminal justice system failed Carlie BIG TIME. Top to bottom. The guy should have been in jail for FIVE YEARS on a coke charge. They treated him like a baby. WHY, WHY, WHY?

Good grief. She was wearing jeans and a short-sleeved peasant top. We wore the same thing when I was a kid.
He didn't pick her out because her clothes were sexy.
He picked her out because he thought she was an easy target.
If he is Joyce Wishart's killer tasteful dressing is not a protection from a predator like Smith. The sixty-one year-old art gallery owner was butchered by his knife...in her own place of business behind closed doors.

They transferred the slimebag this a.m. To keep him away from the media and maybe were anticipating an angry mob. So far, I see flowers at the car wash and at the church on local tv. Multiple failures in the criminal justice system led to Carlie's murder. I hope Governor Bush investigates the entire damn mess. He was interviewed this a.m. at an airport.

I would not be able to sit on a jury for a monster like this...after what my family has been thru, and seeing this horror time and time again.

Judge Rapkin was on tv. He's afraid FOR HIS FAMILY and he couldn't sleep a wink last night. Poor baby!

She was tarted up to look 18-20 years old. She was fully made up, and played on her development (5 feet, 120 pounds)with tight, form-fitting clothes. Look at the security camera. That is NOT what an 11-year-old should look like.
You're right, she had it coming

That judge should be made to go tell Carlie's parents that she is dead and that he could have stopped it.

And she didn't even pick up her daughter after a slumber party.Setting the story straight: Carlie lied and said she had her mother's permission to walk home. A phone call to her mother as Carlie departed Danielle's house revealed this was not true, and Carlie's mother immediateley dispatched her husband to pick up Carlie enroute. He was unable to find her, and the LEO were notified.

Why can't you deal with a multi-facited comment...
I SAID any freak would rape an 86-year-old as much as an 11-year-old.
I SAID children should not be dressed and made-up as grown women.
I SAID parents should have CONCRETE plans to pick up their children. I SAID, if I were a sleepover host, that I would make sure they got home safely MYSELF. I wouldn't buy "walking home" unless I talked to the parents themselves.
Can't you deal with anything but phrases????

The rational of not letting a child walk anywhere just shows how society has changed. I was allowed to roam the town basically at age 11 (mobile with a bicycle). I guess I will have to be carefull with my boys now too, but it just does not seem fair.
Unfortunately even boys are subject to these drug sex weirdos. The bicycle roaming days are about gone. So is some of our freedoms (taken by drugger, pediphile, me me me types).

And still he was married with 3 kidsHis wife had kicked him out of the house. He was not living at home, but rather at a house six blocks away.

The bottom line is NEVER GET IN THE CAR.(if you have a choice) Having been a victim in a barely similar case, I can tell you that you have no idea what you will do when you are that age

Sorry my bad, I should have followed the link.

I was talking about two different topics. Geez, get a clue....I said SPECIFICALLY that women aren't "asking for it." I was mourning a horrible act.
I was also pointing out that this poor kid was made up like a 16-year-old.
I got the same creepy feeling with Jon Benet.

I Harry M. Rafkin a dem or a gop? We have some bad GOP judges over here ya know. Rafkin has everybody totally ticked off. A judge has discretion and he chose to do nothing - I don't care how much he tries to talk his way out of his quagmire. Judge Rafkin's QUAGMIRE.

Everything that you SAID sounded awfully judgemental and blameful.
