it may have been the plea bargain Whatever the deal, the fact that he was lawyered-up when he made it is going to make it very hard for him to walk away from it somewhere down the road.

Name one. Just one. See? you can't do it! They are ALL vermin. :) I can name one--Capt. Kirk Claunch. He took a leave from his law practice and is now fighting for freedom in Iraq.

What we're doing now does not work, and we should change. Unfortunately, through evolution, we've lost out instincts for recognizing predators.

"you Christians let any scumbag in, just for saying he elieves in JC."
I wasn't going to participate in this conversation because I thought the doc's comments to you were completely out of line.
However, your mispersception about who lets any scumbag into heaven, and how they get to heaven is completely inaccurate. So, before you criticize our religion, please research it and know the truth BEFORE you comment. The truth is, God is the one who allows people into heaven, and simply believing in Jesus isn't enough. Even the devil believes in Jesus. Christians have no control over eternal lives of other people. Do you?

God bless you for serving!
If we don't balance juries, the liberals will rationalize reasons NOT to prosecute these monsters and they'll be back on the streets.
I believe his previous jury (the ones who shook his hand) were all the very liberals we've been talking about. I hope they NEVER sleep soundly the rest of their lives! I hope that video tape of Carlie plays over and over in their heads forever!

OH great! I can't stand Judge Neopolitano (sp?), because I frequently think his legal analysis includes misapplications of law or precedent. :)
He's right this time, though. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
The judge acted reasonably - if O'Reilly had a better fact checker, he'd back off.
The real problem might be (aside from the travesty of the number of times he's skated for assaulting women) that police may have wanted him picked up, but didn't do enough to catch him being bad.
I wonder if the judge ignored a nudge-nudge-wink-wink dragnet haul-in of possible killers of Joyce Wishart.
Im not saying he did, in fact, the parole hearing might have been automatice because of the technical failure of the drug test.
Bit an ethical judge would ignore the nudge and the wink, if that was what was going on.
Have you seen that 1993 incident where Smith clocked a girl walking down the street with his motorcycle helmet? Incredibly, he got put into a diversion program instead of jail time. Un-fricking-believable.

I don't blame you for being disugsted and appalled by the actions of SOME of the bishops who are clearly not fit to be shepherds of any kind, but to abandon your faith because of the actions (or inactions) of a bunch of human beings seems a little short-sighted, don't you think? Without the sacraments, your cutting nose off to spite your face, IMHO.

WHY would it be totally ineffective? The system is not going to monitor the coordinates of 6 billion people plus their pets and livestock and vehicles. It will not be possible to do that and integrate the e-911 in any meaningful way.

Hey..which article talks about the drug test failure? I don't doubt you..I just wanted to read it and figure out if the criminal procedure was followed..or if the defendant failed to follow the procedure because his atty told him to not worry about it.

There is a lot of stuff to be upset about today. What do you bet, that if there were term limits, that people would be "less" interested in running for office.

Incredibly, he got put into a diversion program instead of jail time. The tendency seems to be to attack the system everytime there's a high-profile situation like this. Ninety Nine percent of the time the failure is not in the system but in the execution. You've cited an example of that.
But it's a heck of a lot easier for the powers that be to tweak the system than it is to address to issues that cause the "best and brightest" to go to work for someone other than the people of their state.
In many cases, we have a pretty good system being operated by people who couldn't find work elsewhere.

We are mere humans, and there is no way we can possible know the outcome of a persons eternal fate..only God knows. I fear the idea of trying to put myself in God's shoes, honestly.

Unfortunately, through evolution, we've lost out instincts for recognizing predators.Actually, I think you will find trhat judges, jailers, and social workers/psychiatrists recognize them fine, and pass them along ASAP.
