SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.
The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Alleged al Qaida Operative Provides Cultural Commentary
Alleged al Qaida operative Daleel Almojahid, who has become more than a little prolific in threatening internet postings in the last few months, is this week quoting from American news reports and adding to them his own brand of social commentary.
In a recent message titled "Go and Clean up your Mess coz I think You Need to find a New Religion," (
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Daleel_Almojahid_1/message/25) Almojahid dealt with a story about an upcoming draft report commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The report, to be released on Feb. 27, found that children made more than 11,000 allegations of sexual abuse by priests.
Almojahid commented, "May God bring upon you his most strongest punishment for your sins. Even your priests have been poisoned by your downgrading morals and then you try to teach the Muslims ! Where are the Muslims and where are you! You need to (sit)with us again and start learning what does God mean from the begining!"
Almojahid finished his commentary by writing, "To the real Christians that follow their religion faithfully and don't believe that Christ is the son of God, as God has no sons He is the one and only, you can forget this post it's not for you. May God bless you."
However, Almojahid is not alone in his anti-American rhetoric. A terrorist web site graphically condemning perceived immorality and excesses in America, as well as the Bush Administration and the U.S. War on Terror, is www.forsan.net. On its front page for example it features a splashy graphic commentary (www.forsan.net/animation/mutafarikat/alhawasawa.JPG) of the artist's thoughts on the recent Valentine's Day celebration.
Another picture on the same site shows President George W. Bush as Hannibal, the cannibalistic lead figure in the "Silence of the Lambs" movie.
In a subsequent message on his Yahoo group site, Almojahid apparently quoting unattributed material from an Islamic scholar, addressed the issue of what Muslims think about Jesus. He wrote (
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Daleel_Almojahid_1/message/26), "We believe that `Eesa (peace be upon him) was one of the slaves of Allaah, and one of His noble Messengers. Allaah sent him to the Children of Israel to call them to believe in Allaah alone and worship Him alone."
In another post titled "What Morals are you trying to Spread, America!" Almojahid quoted from a CNN report dealing with the hundreds of gay and lesbian couples who got married Saturday at San Francisco's City Hall.
Almojahid commented, "Then you ask why is God going to punish us and what punishment will be enough on people like these. What morals are you trying to spread? What freedom are you talking about ? The freedom to become gay and lesbian? ... Tell me what morals does America stand for? How do you expect God to stand by your side? Your punishment is coming by the hands of the mojahideen, and by the troops and armies of God inshalaah. Filthy , filthy , and disgusting, these are not humans any more, they are animals, pigs."
Continuing his commentary, Almojahid wrote " Go and tell your children this is America my child; see how great we are! ... We are homos and lesbians my child (with) no morals whatsoever, and after all this we fight and we say (may God defend America). What America is God going to defend? Await his punishment soon, for your sins have reached the skies."

9 People Quarantined At Brooks City-Base
White Powdery Substance Found On Flyer
POSTED: 1:45 p.m. CST February 17, 2004
UPDATED: 3:19 p.m. CST February 17, 2004
Story by KSAT.com
SAN ANTONIO -- Preliminary tests indicate that a white powdery substance discovered Tuesday at Brooks City-Base turned up either negative or inconclusive for dangerous chemicals, a San Antonio Fire Department official said.
San Antonio Fire Department District Chief Ralph Medina said the initial tests are conducted to determine whether the substance tests positive for ricin, anthrax and other dangerous biochemicals. More thorough tests will be conducted Medina said.
San Antonio Fire Department District Chief Randy Jenkins told KSAT 12 News that nine people were being quarantined as a precaution. The people who may have in contact with the powder were asked to go home and take a shower and bag their clothing.
The powder was discovered on a flyer that was attached to the back of a paycheck, which came from within the base, Jenkins said.
"We're not quite sure what it may be," Jenkins said, "but we're going to take all precautions necessary to safeguard the public."
About 150 people were evacuated from the building, which is located near the main gate of the base at Interstate 37 South and Southwest Military Drive.

NORMAN, OKLA. Federal agencies will conduct tests from Cessna aircraft in the Canadian River Valley Feb. 18 through 24. Some tests will be water-only trials; the other tests will be no-release trials. This series of tests is the fifth in a series of weather radar tests in the Oklahoma City area that are being conducted by the United States Army, in conjunction with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Lincoln Laboratory, Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The test is designed to provide data for the development of an early warning system for chemical and biological events.
During these tests, water will be disseminated from a Cessna 188 AgWagon or crop duster flying specific routes and using pre-determined release rates, aircraft speeds and altitude levels. Although water will be the only simulant used during the trial, denatured ethanol may be used to prevent the water from freezing.
Additionally, a Cessna 182A aircraft will be used to conduct non-dissemination trials. Flight paths will vary by altitude and heading and generally will be conducted south and west of the Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City.
Testing conducted in March, April, May and November 2003 and January 2004 produced favorable results. The tests are designed to provide information on the feasibility and current capability of commonly used radars to provide an early warning system for chemical and biological events. The objective of these trials is to collect data for continued development and validation of a radar algorithm for chemical/biological early warning.
Information about the test, including schedules and maps, will be available on the Internet at www.jpeocbd.osd.mil/CA_Infopaper.htm. The public may also call the Armys toll-free Multi-Mission Sensor Test Information Line at (866) 223-1101 for a daily-recorded message about scheduled test sites and times. Messages left on the information line will be returned in a timely manner.

"Although we have disrupted several airline plots, we have not eliminated the threat to airplanes," he said. "There are still al Qaeda operatives who we believe have been deployed to hijack planes and fly them into key targets."Kudos to all the brave men and women working diligently to protect us. We'll probably never know what attacks they've been able to thwart. On the other hand, they'll catch all the flack if an attack were to happen. A thankless job, for sure.

I know how you feel. Some people just can't seem to resist attacking everyone that does not meet there expectaions. Sean is subject to recieve mis-information too. So there is a lot of speculation in this buisness. The question is...Do you think that AQ is up to something, and do you think they might have the know how or the resources to pull something off ? I tend to answer yes to both questions.

Putin's nuclear show blows up in his face
By Julius Strauss in Moscow
(Filed: 18/02/2004)
Russia's biggest military exercise since the collapse of communism flopped yesterday, ruining an attempt to project Vladimir Putin as a global leader and reaffirm the country's status as a nuclear superpower.
With Mr Putin and a host of military officials watching from the nuclear submarine Arkhangelsk, two intercontinental ballistic missiles went wrong during a firing from a submarine believed to be the Novomoskovsk. They were aimed at Kamchatka on the Pacific coast. A malfunctioning satellite was blamed.
The Russian website gazeta.ru said one of the missiles blew up shortly after firing. The navy refused to confirm the accident.(snipped)

U.S. Issues Iraq Insurgents Wanted List By LEE KEATH, Associated Press Writer
BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military on Tuesday issued for the first time a wanted list of dozens of key figures suspected of leading the anti-U.S. insurgency in Iraq, including a $1 million reward for a senior Baath Party figure believed to be running guerrilla cells.
In Tikrit, three Iraqis, including a 10-year-old, were killed Tuesday when a 120 mm mortar fired by U.S. soldiers landed on their house. The U.S. base at Tikrit has been receiving fire from insurgents over the past few nights, the military said.
The list of 32 wanted people included suspected cell leaders, former members of Saddam Hussein's military and regional Baath leaders thought to be helping the insurgency, said Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, deputy operations chief.
At the top of the list, with a $1 million reward, is Mohammed Yunis al-Ahmad, a former top Baath Party official. Rewards between $50,000 and $200,000 were offered for the others.
"He is one of the former (regime) personnel we suspect of significant anti-coalition activities," Kimmitt said of al-Ahmad. "We have reason to believe he has been running cells in certain parts of this country."
The military has been compiling the list as it built up a better understanding of the insurgency, Kimmitt told reporters. "Some names keep popping up," he said.
Soon after Saddam's ouster in April, the military published a list of 55 most-wanted members of his regime. All but 10 of them have been captured or killed. Not all were believed to have played major roles in the insurgency.
Until now, U.S. officials have not made public a list of suspected leaders of the insurgency that erupted after the regime's collapse and has killed more American soldiers than did the invasion that toppled Saddam. The violence, blamed on Saddam loyalists and foreign Islamic militants, has persisted despite the Iraqi leader's capture in December.
Three U.S. soldiers were killed and six wounded by roadside bombs in Baghdad and two cities to the north on Monday, the military announced. Four U.S. soldiers were wounded and one insurgent was killed Monday in a firefight that ended in the arrest of a suspected cell leader and eight others, the military said. The cell leader was not on the list released Tuesday.
The latest U.S. deaths brought to 541 the number of American service members who have died since President Bush launched the war March 20.
Guerrillas have carried out a series of bloody attacks over the past week targeting Iraqi civilians and police, apparently seeking to derail U.S. plans to hand over power to a provisional Iraqi government on June 30.
At the same time, U.S. administrators are facing mounting opposition to their plan to use regional caucuses to put together the new government. The method was losing support on the Iraqi Governing Council, several council members said.
"This system is alien to us," said Naseer Kamel al-Chaderchi, a Sunni Muslim. "It's based on city councils, and the integrity of these councils is in question."
Mahmoud Othman, a Kurdish Sunni member of the council, agreed that the caucus plan has little support. He said the Americans could simply hand over sovereignty to the Governing Council but most Iraqis wouldn't accept it because the body was appointed by the United States.
Othman said he preferred a second option, holding "a national conference with the wide participation of political and religious figures" to produce a provisional leadership.
Secretary of State Colin Powell said Tuesday that the United States remains committed to giving the Iraqi people control of their country by July 1 but is open to ideas from the United Nations about how an interim government is chosen.
U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said Tuesday he hopes to report this week on whether the United Nations believes it's possible to hold elections to pick a new government by June 30. If he decides a vote isn't possible as appears likely he is expected to recommend other possible options.
The military's new most wanted list set new rankings of rewards for the fugitives. A $200,000 reward was set for 11 former regional military and political leaders from Saddam regime suspected of "associating" or "providing support" to insurgent cells, Kimmitt said.
Among the 11 was Lt. Gen. Hakam Hassan Ali al-Tikriti, a former commander of the military's helicopter forces and an adviser to the Iraqi General Staff during the U.S. invasion.
Rewards of $50,000 were offered for 20 "individual operatives in local terrorist cells," he said.
"These people have been targets for quite a period of time," he said. "We have now offered significant amounts of money for their capture."
The United States has also placed a $10 million bounty on al-Qaida-linked operative Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a Jordanian blamed for a series of devastating car bombs that U.S. officials say were aimed at fomenting civil war.
On Monday, U.S. troops launched a raid south of the city of Fallujah hunting for two suspected cell leaders. The raid sparked a gunbattle in which one Iraqi guerrilla was killed and nine others were captured, including one of the suspects. The two men were not on the newly issued list.
