Having worked for a Harvard MBA (best boss I've ever had) years ago, it has never crossed my mind to "misunderestimate" W.

But Harvard now cozies up to Al Franken, go figure.

I have said repeatedly that our President is a champion poker player who wins even when the other side is cheating.

My MBA is from the University of Connecticut so I can only partly relate to this article. I will tell you that the 3.2 that got me on the Dean's List as an undergraduate English major was the bare minimum for simply avoiding expulsion from the program at UCONN.
There were no stupid people who finished with the degree. The only stupid people I met were the, mostly, liberal arts grads who thought it would be a snap to get a business degree. One Theater major comes to mind. He had gotten his BA the previous May and thought he would "pick up" an MBA to help him in the career in Theatrical Production he had planned. I met him as he took Finance for his first course. My professor was a former Assistant Director for the Federal Reserve. He was tough and didn't wait for anybody to catch up. Mr. Theater never came back after the first class.

There is simply no way on earth that the son of the then-Ambassador to China, or anyone else, could have coasted through Harvard Business School with a gentlemans C. I never, ever heard of a case of an incompetent student being allowed to graduate, simply because a certain family was prominent. On the contrary, I did hear stories of well-born students having to leave prior to graduation That does say alot about W's credentials.......

I have no idea of W's grades but much of what Rush said is BS. Having gone to one of the top schools in my discipline, I can assure you that the hardest part BY FAR is getting in. Once you are there, you will graduate unless you TRY not to! That's my experience. Top schools don't try to weed out students. They want their money and take pride in a very low attrition rate. There are plenty of jobs for all graduates of the school. No need to cull the herd.

I've got a partner who is a Yale dude and holds MBA from Stanford. I used to think I knew something about business. Then... when you get to the upper limits of the business world and the management techniques it boggled this old Texas A&M Agriculturist's mind. But... being a quick learner... it's really neat understanding the interactions that must happen to get the desired results. It' certainly true... one never stops learning.

Most of the people I work with are MBAs, mostly from Harvard and Stanford, but we have a Kellogg and Cornell grad in my office as well. They are definitely not rocket scientists -- most of them are no brighter or better at their jobs than the people who went through our in-house training program. There are some exceptions.
But we love to bug one of the guys here, from Harvard BS, who was late on his first day. He finally called in, wondering where the car to pick him up was.

Thanks for the ping....I liked the last paragraph...the Dems seem to be biting.....and I wonder if all the spending is part of the trap....(she ponders hopefully)
"Only time will tell, whether Saddam ever had any WMDs. Their non-existence has not been proven. Only time will tell whether or not Osama bin Laden (or his corpse) will be taken into custody by American Troops. Only time will tell whether or not Iraq will continue to make progress toward a transition toward a peaceful democratic government. George W. Bush knows much more information about these topics than his domestic political opponents do. At the moment, they are betting a lot of their chips on one side of these questions.
We will see by November who has the winning hand."

Wonder if he was using his MBA when he under calculated by 30% the cost of Medicare in his budget?

The link to the original article is not working for me. Could you correct this? I want to get the original article to pass on to others. Thanks.

This makes me feel much better. I've always known these things about Dubya, because I have worked for large corporations with HBS-MBAs at the helm and I recognize the traits. You also can't watch the man very long without figuring out that he's a "poker player".
Lately, I've been doubting my assessment, but having someone else (who DOES have a MBA) come to the same conclusions makes me a lot more comfortable.
I guess I've been beaten around the head too much by the Bush Bashers. I should never doubt my first instincts.

All the book smarts in the world can't replace common sense. GWB seems to have found a beautiful balance of both.

Your statement is flawed.
Two different organizations have put different numbers on the cost of that program. The OMB is the Administration's, the CBO works for Congress.
Our illegitimate media want people to think that the President is responsible for both numbers.
