February 3, 2004 -- CBS is moving to bounce Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake from next Sunday's Grammy Awards amid the national uproar following their X-rated, prime-time Super Bowl stunt. Sources told The Post the network will demand the two stars be tossed from 46th Annual Grammy Awards if CBS's probe shows the duo schemed in advance to expose Jackson's pierced breast during the halftime spectacle.

For a company like Viacom, $5 mil is nothing. For CBS, which owns 34 stations like WCBS in New York, or KCBS in Los Angeles, $27,500 is nothing. Viacom owns 16 stations nationwide, even if they're not CBS affiliates, they'll pony up the small pocket change as well.

Where did you get the 34 stations from? Every news station yesterday was reporting that there were over 500 CBS affiliate stations who showed half-time - x's $27,500 @ = almost $14 million - then CBS, MTV, and Viacom can each be fined or sued.

I know it's only a drop in the bucket for Viacom and all, but it is a STATEMENT. (and not just from the FCC.)

I know there are Freepers here who think we should "lighten up" and it was no big deal. Well guess what, millions of viewers thought it was a big deal and will be boycotting Viacom companies, MTV, CBS, and all awards shows. And that's our STATEMENT.

This is what I don't get. MTV has been producing smut for 20 years (give or take). Now we have MTV producing the half-time show for the super bowl and, SURPRISE!, it's full of smut?? How on earth did that happen?? I'm shocked, I tell you, just shocked. How could we expect anything OTHER THAN EXACTLY WHAT WE GOT FROM MTV?

And exactly how do the "fishals" at TiVo know this? The TiVo unit doesn't send signals back up the line when some user is re-viewing a segment of a program. Or does it "phone in a report?" As I understand it, TiVo is a digital video recorder and stores programs in its big hard drive. How would the company know what the viewer is doing?

Oh sure, I believe they attended all the rehersals and thought the "song" and "dance" were just wholesome routines that the kids would like. I guess all those old guys and gals forgot what sex was, because to me that "dance" looked like simulated sex. The boob shot was just the topper to an otherwise disgusting and pornographic performance.

No, they are just coming on strong with endorsements for the high (low) jinx. Yet an MTV video jock was interviewed last night and admitted that what you saw would be appropriate on MTV but not on network. Someone at MTV has been able to make this distinction but not our liberals.

I'm sure someone else has mentioned it, but I haven't seen it said yet:
Is anyone else baffled by the fact that the JJ incident is such a huge deal, yet throughout the Super Bowl, and since, the ads for the Grammys feature a shot of Britney Spears in an entirely see through outfit? These ads continue to air and are at least as revealing as JJs sun-star.

To me this just shows that it is not about right and wrong, or standards. For CBS it is about whether or not they are in trouble.

Footnote: I fully expect that if JJ is barred from the show some artist will offer a 'sypathetic' flashing. Heck, they may do it if she is NOT banned and is in attendance... Anything for a little press...
