One of Jim Robinson's essays in support of the re-election of President Bush was read on the air this morning by co-host Jim Quinn on the Quinn and Rose syndicated talk show.

It can be heard about a half hour or so into the program by going to the programs' archives here:

Congratulations. Let's say it more. Let's say it lots. Yes, let's get some books on the shelves too!!!! It won't convince those who are Too Conservative For Their President, but we can try on the rest.

I was accused last night by a Republican friend of being brainwashed by the current administration. Yes, President Bush is controlling my thoughts. It makes an amazingly flexible counterargument--no matter what I say, "Bush made you say that."

If you write a book, perhaps a chapter about us miscreants in the Word for the Day class would be in order.

Well, I'm no author so probably won't be writing any books, but FReeper Richard Poe is and he's got a new one coming out called, "Hillary's Secret War." Free Republic is a big part of it. In telling the story of Hillary's war against conservative media and conservative websites, he delves into the founding, struggles and histories of Free Republic, the DrudgeReport, Lucianne, FrontPageMagazine, WorldnetDaily, NewsMax and others. Free Republic is quoted throughout the book.

Greetings from the belly of Enemy Occupied New York.
That foreward nailed it on the head.
Hillary will make a play for power, but first she's got to shut us up or at least muzzle us somehow.
Wonder if they've been focus grouping on ideas about how to do so.

I think you write very well. I liked your essay on keeping the Democrats out of power. As angry as I am at President Bush and this "guest worker" proposal, I will vote for him.

Richard Poe has written an important book about how the internet is perserving our right to freedom of speech, and the forces that would stamp it out. By creating this website, you've done something very important for the conservative cause. Bet you didn't realize how big this website would get ;-)

I have come to believe that Jim is a man of genuine goodwill; however, I don't believe his mission is as an essayist for the election process but rather a man who, like many men, has seen much and enjoyed little of partisan and partitioning politics, especially a series of unethical escapades on the part of a certain backwoods, backseat upstart about 13 years ago which attracted the attention of a nation too complacent for its own good and suddenly a website was born.

What we have here now is not just Jim Robinson's views on the body politic but the body itself, stretching its long-unused muscles and making itself heard by vigilant observation, witty comment and follow-up at all levels from the grass-roots to the tree-tops.

Long live Free Republic.

I'm proud of ya, Jim. Real proud.

After the election...AFTER we re-elect President Bush, AFTER the trolls go home to Mommy crying....THEN you could write a book.

Yeah. Then.

Congratulations Jim on getting your piece aired! How exciting!

I noted that the very first paragraph stated the following:

Will Bush solve the illegal immigration problem? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

This was on the very top of the long list you wrote.

Now I know you support the President, and back him 100 percent. Which is great.

However you wrote to me back in mid 2002 and stated the following on a thread regarding illegal immigration, where I suggested that the official free republic position parallels GOP on immigration. "No Big Deal". Here's a quote from that thread.

Given thirty years of this open border, immigration "free for all" that has resulted in many millions entering our nation illegally, I believe there are very few Republicans, or anyone else in DC, besides Tancredo, that are visibly and vocally fighting for our national sovereignty. Now would you care to tell me which Republicans are standing with Tancredo and voicing outrage against this titanic, never ending invasion of illegal aliens?

And you responded

To: Joe Hadenuf

I have no idea. Immigration is not a big concern of mine.

Do you still think this illegal alien crisis is not a big concern? Has your position on this issue changed? Do you think President Bush feels the same way? Do you think the GOP would agree with this? Has anything changed?

Thanks Jim for any clarification on this.

Best Regards,

Joe....

I'll tell you what I think it is. It's an issue that has been brewing for a long long time and will probably not be solved for even longer. Bush is not going to be able to solve the issue to everyone's satisfaction. He's proposed a compromise plan that will allow the illegals work permits for a limited time if they will apply for them, and then a method for them to apply for citizenship after the end of the term if they meet certain requirements. It's not a general amnesty.

Kerry, or any of the other Democrat candidates, are not even going to try to solve the problem at all. If any of them get into office, they've promised to grant all of the illegal immigrants instant and full citizenship complete with voting rights with no questions asked.

And don't fool yourself. Tancredo won't be able to solve it to your satisfaction either. He's also offered a compromise plan similar to Bush's, but it will have to be amended many times to get passed into law. In the end, it would probably look closer to Bush's if it survives.
