How Ketchup Kerry May Win in 2004!

I am sure that many of you were shocked, by the CNN poll showing J. Ketchup Kerry beating President Bush in a poll: http://cnn.allpolitics.printthis.clickability.com/pt/cpt?action=cpt&title=CNN.com+-+Kerry+leads+Bush+in+new+poll+-+Feb.+2%2C+2004&expire=-1&urlID=9143781&fb=Y&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F2004%2FALLPOLITICS%2F02%2F02%2Felec04.poll.prez%2Findex.html&part
The poll goes against what most freepers regard as commonsense. Of course, you will say, a rich liberal New England elitist like Kerry can never get elected President. Right? No self-respecting folk in the South, the West, and the Mid-West will vote for him. Right?
I will begin by stating an obvious fact that is well known to both you and I. That no Democratic Presidential candidate, who is truly HONEST about what the modern Democratic Party believes in today, can win a Presidential election. That much we know. The key word is "honest".
In 1972, George McGovern was defeated, because he was honest about embracing the New Left agenda, which included gender and racial quotas at the Democratic Convention in 1972. This alienated the white ethnics who had been loyal to the Democrats for more than a century, forcing them to hold their noses and vote for Nixon. In 1980, Jimmy Carter was defeated because he was honest in admitting his cluelessness on what to do about America's high interests rates, and was partly honest in admitting his impotence in his dealings with Iranian Mullahs who had kidnapped Americans.
In 1984, Walter Mondale was punished by voters for speaking honestly of his party's intended plan of raising the taxes of the American people. In 1988, Michael Dukakis was rejected by the voters because he was honest about his opposition to the death penalty.
But what are you supposed to do, when faced with a Democratic candidate who is not only dishonest, but a skilled liar as well? We saw what happened in 1992. Bill Clinton lied his way to victory, by telling middle-class American suckers that he would give them a "middle-class tax cut", which would be provided by increasing taxes on the rich making $200,000 a year. Remember that promise? If you do not, then maybe the many broken Clinton promises make it difficult to keep count.
Ketchup Kerry is just as slick and slippery as Clinton, without the baggage of bimbo eruptions. When Kerry served as Dukakis' deputy in Massachussets, he was reputed to be more liberal than Dukakis himself. I will bet you that, based on his record, he is even more liberal than Howard Dean (e.g. on gun ownership, fiscal discipline, etc.).
But, by some miracle, Ketchup has managed to position himself as a Democratic moderate. Even Houdini couldn't have managed to pull that off.
Kerry both supports and opposes the Iraq war. He both supports and opposes the death penalty. He both supports and opposes gay marriages. He both supports and opposes more spendng for defense. He both supports and opposes tax increases. He both claims and denies having Irish ancestry. He may or may not have had botox injections. He is both proud and ashamed of his Vietnam record. You cannot pin him down on anything. He is as slippery as an eel.
If Clinton could triangulate, Kerry will octagonulate. He will be for everything and for nothing. In that way, he can get the support of those supportive and opposed to a particular policy, at the same time.

The only way a conservative can beat a liberal, is if a liberal speaks honestly about his liberal beliefs.
But if you are dealing with a slick liberal who measures his words carefully, beware.

Kerry is winning in the polls because the Democratic primary is what the people are seeing on TV, while President Bush is not visible...
When the general election campaign starts, the polls will reverse, IMHO. That is, if President Bush can stop pissing away conservative votes.

Not according to some Dem posters on Dem sites, early on in this primary season. I have no idea what they were talking about, but I am guessing they were implying there are some surprises in store for us with Kerry. Any more than that, I don't know and they didn't specifically say.

We need to come together as conservatives, Republicans and Americans. A Bush reelection benefits all of us. This is going to be a battle, no Nader, no Buchanan, Conservative versus liberal begging the "independents to side with us. This is going to be ugly!

I have nothing on this but a hunch. Does this man give anybody the sense that he is a standup straight arrow?
Honesty and integrity do not immediatedly come to mind in this mans' professional life, which may cast some doubt as to the remainder of this mans existence.

Given the general public's dimwitted fixation on height as a measure of a fella's worth, Kerry has a good chance. Gore came close.

I am sure that many of you were shocked, by the CNN poll showing J. Ketchup Kerry beating President Bush in a poll I wasn't. I expected it. 24/7 coverage of the wonders of Kerry will push any poll his way. That poll reflects where we are in the process...all DemonRats all the time.
Stay tuned.

Sean Hannity claims to have a letter in his upcoming book that will give Kerry grief. Not if it doesn't get reported anywhere but FOX.

If you think about it, Kerry couldn't even beat Dean. Kerry was in single digits before Dean began to self-destruct.

"...This is going to be a battle, no Nader, no Buchanan..."
You can say that again. Remember that Nader had 2 million votes, compared to 500,000 for Buchanan. And Buchanan's supporters are that group of right-wingers opposed to the Iraq war.
When you factor in Al Gore's 500,000 advantage in the popular vote, Bush will have to overcome a deficit of over 2.5 million votes from 2000.
Bush's only hope lies in mobilizing an estimated 3 million religious conservatives who stayed home in the 2000 elections. That won't be easy.

Don't forget the hair. Last year, there was some speculation that Kerry stood a good chance of being elected, because he has "presidential hair".
You can understand why the founding fathers wanted to restrict the franchise, because they wanted to limit the number of dummies on the voters' rolls.

Don't count Nader out yet. Good chance he'll run if Kerry is the nominee.

The only reason the DEMO(N)cRATS are suring in the polls is because their primary is taking place.
I now understand the absolute brilliance of Karl Rove in holding the GOP convention as close to the election as possible.
The American public has such a short little span of attention, it ain't even gonna be close.
The only thing they will remember is the last thing they saw.
The GOP.

"That is, if President Bush can stop pissing away conservative votes."
This is precisely Bushes problem. He has alienated many that voted for him (I worked on his campaign!) by giving us "Leftist Lite" in the form of support for continuation of the assault weapons ban, proposing amnesty for illegals, refusing to protect our border, and massively increasing spending. He's gonna have to do a complete 180 to have the slimmest hope of getting my vote. He's completely betrayed his conservative base, and is not acting like the guy who four years ago promised us smaller government.
I'll be writing in Tom Tancredo for President. And if that means that John Kerry is our next president, so what? I'm not seeing a lot of difference between any of the candidates, 'Pub or 'Rat. And at least if we had a 'Rat in office, maybe Congress would pull its collective testicles out of the box they've been storedin for the last four years and actually say "no" to alot of the BS a Kerry (or a Bush, or a Dean) would try to do.
