I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel like giving CBS a hard time about their halftime show. Actually, I feel like giving CBS a hard time in general, but in this case there is just cause. ;)

Now that NFL football's over for the season, I have absolutely no reason to watch CBS until next year.

You may not agree with their program choices but at least they are trying to clean up the garbage. Check out the site and get involved.
http://www.parentstv.org P.S. It's NOT censorship.
You can put your TV in the garage, avoid movies altogether, and use earplugs to spare your hearing, but these forms of entertainment will still change your life through their influence on everyone else in society. Though you may struggle to protect your own kids, you can't possibly protect them from all the other kids in your community who have received full exposure.

This argument is a slam dunk in a debate. Good post.

It was bad enough that the first half of the halftime show had to display the dregs of American culture (no wonder the Muslims hate us), but then that juvenile display by Janet Jackson (a "has been") and Justin Timberlake (a "never been") while the entire world was watching was beyond tasteless. The halftime show at the SuperBowl should go back to college marching bands, IMHO.

"P.S. It's NOT censorship".
Why is one of their advisors for it then: "Censorship: A Defense by Dean Jones"? And thats just from a brief scan of the site. You'd probably find that thats what many of them really want, even though they aren't willing to admit it. They're sort of like the gun grabbers: Its only about 'gun safety'. Yeah riigghttt.
You can protect your children by not having guns in your own home, but you can't protect them from other people having guns. Right?

Guess my familiy won't be watching the Super Bowl next year.
And to make matters worse, it wasn't even an ATTRACTIVE breast. She is a middle aged woman. Her boobs are plastic filled, hard and veinuous. She should keep them covered when the lights are on.

GO GET 'EM! They're lying!
QUOTE ONE:
MTV Statement on Super Bowl XXXVIII Halftime Incident Sunday February 1, 11:03 pm ET
HOUSTON, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The tearing of Janet Jackson's costume was unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance. MTV regrets this incident occurred and we apologize to anyone who was offended by it.
QUOTE TWO: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1484644/20040128/jackson_janet.jhtml?headlines=true
I don't think the Super Bowl has ever seen a performance like this," Duldulao added. "The dancing is great. She's more stylized, she's more feminine, she's more a woman as she dances this time around. There are some shocking moments in there too.

What if CBS refuses to pay Janet Jackson for her performance? That would be real signs that CBS was remorse and had some intestinal fortitude.
To: explodingspleen
Forgt the half-time show. That was the worst coverage of a game I've ever seen. There was no line camera. Replays were almost non-existent. And that herky-jerky overhead swivel cam was less than useless.

Les Moonves should resign in disgrace. Sending him a letter or email is like sending Bill Clinton a message that he shouldn't have sex with an intern.

There is just cause. The NFL powers also need to be aware that if families cannot trust them to have their kids watching a football game, then families will rent a movie for their kids instead. The statement which inluded the words "it is unlikely" in reference to having MTV associated with the future superbowls is just not good enough.

Remember, CBS/Viacom/Infinity/MTV Networks (all operated by Sumner Redstone and Mel Karmazin) are the ones who brought you Howard Stern, and are the ones who desecrated St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City in their "Sex With Sam" promotion (Opie and Anthony show). Actually, complaints ought to be directed to FCC Commissioner Kathleen Q. Abernathy, a "Catholic" (educated at Marquette and Catholic U. of America) who has voted for renewing the license of the flagship radio station for Howard Stern, and who has done nothing to revoke any of CBS/Infinity's broadcast licenses, despite the clear statutory authority given by Congress to the FCC (18 USC 1464 and 47 USC 312(a)(6)). Abernathy appears to be pro-porn, just like Barbara Mikulski, another "Catholic", is pro-abortion and pro- homosexual.

You'd probably find that thats what many of them really want, even though they aren't willing to admit it.I doubt most want censorship or the government approving/disapproving what is broadcast. After all, this is the USA, not some 2nd or 3rd world communist or islamic country where anything on TV or radio is government-approved.
I will admit, some here would rather have the government approve everything before it goes over the air, but every crowd has to have its extremists.
I wonder why everybody runs to the government though, CBS won't care if they get a fine (after all bad publicity is still publicity); they will care if they lose advertisers.
