NEW YORK (AP) - CBS apologized on Sunday for an unexpectedly R-rated end to its Super Bowl halftime show, when singer Justin Timberlake tore off part of Janet Jackson's top, exposing her breast.
``CBS deeply regrets the incident,'' spokeswoman Leslie Anne Wade said after the network received several calls about the show.
The two singers were performing a flirtatious duet to end the halftime show, and at the song's finish, Timberlake reached across Jackson's leather gladiator outfit and pulled off the covering to her right breast.
The network quickly cut away from the shot, and did not mention the incident on the air.
It was unclear whether Timberlake intended to expose Jackson's breast.
Wade said CBS officials attended rehearsals of the halftime show all week, ``and there was no indication any such thing would happen. The moment did not conform to CBS' broadcast standards and we would like to apologize to anyone who was offended.''
The Super Bowl halftime show, which also featured Puff Daddy, Nelly and Kid Rock, was produced by MTV, CBS' corporate cousin in Viacom.
``We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced halftime show,'' Joe Browne, NFL executive vice president, said. ``They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the content of the show.
``It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime.''

As a high school teacher I resent that, it is hard to deal with young men and women who listen to that "music" and to have to see things that no adult female should have to see in their workplace and not comment. I can only go so far telling them to pull their pants up and cover up those exposed breasts. If I get any more explicit I would be fired and you know it. We have learned to just look away or end up in court with the kids parents. We condone nothing, we are outnumbered and have to make a living doing what we went to school for. Parents send their kids to school looking like this and when they are called to pick them up to change clothes, they cuss you out. It is a never ending job trying to teach academics, sometimes we are able to teach manners which are almost nonexistent.

It's a *breast* folks! Run for the hills maw!
In America it's high sacrilege to show someone touching a breast on TV, but it's perfectly OK to show someone cutting it off with a hacksaw.

``I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl,'' Timberlake said in a statement. ``It was not intentional and is regrettable.''and I can hear Timberlake also saying...."and I was not at all upset about 'the kiss', and this was not a contrived, sick payback/publicity stunt".
Just throw him in with the rest of the trash..Madonna, the rest of the Jacksons, Brittney.....they all make me sick.
At least Kidd Rock had the guts to be patriotic, in his own way. I'm surprised Janet didn't drag him off the stage.
My children are grown, but if I had a young one watching this, I would be even more livid than I am (if that's possible).
The so called entertainment industry sunk to a new low tonight.

Just e-mailed CBS. Told them what a garbage network they have become.

It was unclear whether Timberlake intended to expose Jackson's breast. Unclear? Why would she be wearing that sticker/plastic if she intended it to be covered with clothes? Why did he grab her there and yank at the clothing if it wasn't intentional?

Hopefully there will be enough pressure on the NFL that CBS will not be included in the next tv contract.
It sure makes me long for the time when halftime entertainment consisted of a high school marching band.

Folks, this isn't about parenting skills, this is exactly what the bitch wanted to do, it's about being HIJACKED!! I didn't have any idea that the BIMBO was going to do this! My whole family was sitting in front of the tube and low and behold the boob is exposed. WHAT to do at that precised moment? I was stunned! CBS AND MTV HIJACKED THE FAMILY this evening and they need to answer for it!! PERIOD! THEY KNEW, THEY KNEW THEY KNEW!!! Don't let them BS you that they didn't know!

No crap. It's amazing all the types of violence that can be shown on TV that no one gets worked up about, but then you show one of the most natural things on earth (no silicone jokes, please!), and people are crying "disgusting!"
Like I said before, the real outrage should be on how horrible and un-entertaining the halftime show was.

"the nipple covered by a tassel."
That was planned. NO woman wonders around like that if she doesn't plan on exposing herself.

When wearing leather, women sometimes wear something to cover up their nipples and prevent chafing. It's hard to tell if it's a pastie, or something that prevents nipple chafing, however.

Oh, not many of us care about her old boob. It's the direction society is headed that concerns us... This year, simulated sex and bare breasts. Next year, simulated ritual human sacrifice with a simulated orgy . . .

It's a *breast* folks! Run for the hills maw! No, it is called creeping liberalism. You let this happen, and then that happen, and next thing you know someone is pretending to hump another performer on stage. No wait, that was also done tonight. Well, then, someone will rip up the American flag and wear it as a shirt. Nope, that was done too. Our society has become more and more liberal, and there is no end in sight until we stand up to do something about it.
