Anybody but Bush! Bias on the Radio News . . . ABC radio that is.

Today, as I listened to Rush Limbaugh and several other commentators, I was also obliged to listen to the top-of-the-hour ABC News reports.
It took several news reports before I noticed something. During each of the reports ABC had a different reporter reporting from the front lines of the upcoming Democrat primaries. Some hours it was a woman, others a man. The strange thing was that while they reported on different areas and different states, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM quoted the same unnamed, undecided woman voter who said "I can't decide which to vote for but my candidate's initials are ABB - Anybody But Bush!"
After I heard it the third time, I started paying attention... and heard it at least seven times during the day. Each time the story was told, the voice of the reporter sounded somewhat smug and a little bit triumphant. It was obviously the "talking point of the day."
It became obvious that the intent was that the last, and most important bit of info that ABC News Radio wanted to stick in the listener's minds was "Anyody but Bush!"

Did anyfreeper also notice this repeated litany?

Yep. The mindset of the reporters is obvious.

Last time I heard that chant was in in elementary school when everyone was saying, "ABC - Anyone but Carter."
"ABB," doesn't make any damned sense (like everything else the left "thinks up").

Funny, I don't recall this kind of coverage back in 1996 when it was ABC - Anybody But Clinton......

I noticed that as well. At first I thought it was a one time comment but then it began to annoy me that every time they broke for news I had to listen to the same rhetoric. One time when Ann Compton was announcing the rising deficit in the budget she sounded absolutely gleeful.

I heard one report as you describe, but not multiple reporters from multiple cities.
I thought I heard Ann Compton in SC.

They all suck and their programming sucks and I watch them NOT! The best way to hit these bastards is in the pocketbook and don't watch em.

ABC radio is one of the most biased news outlets against President Bush, and/or any Republican for that matter.
I frequently listen to WABC 77 AM --New York City-- and am constantly amazed how the ABC radio news person at the top of the hour always, always picks the most damaging, slanted quotes and angles with which to slam President Bush. (Whenever GWB's poll numbers drop, they lead the news with that.)
I always figured that WABC's station managers were trying to balance out the station since most of the talk show hosts are right-leaning conservatives.
But news, however, is not the way to achieve that.

Did anyfreeper also notice this repeated litany? Yes, interspersed between my favorite conservative talk shows. Ticks me off.

ABC News radio top of the hour and bottom of the hour news break is the bane of listening to conservative talk radio.
Their news readers are so snotty sounding and blantantly infected with liberal bias. One woman in particular, when she says "ABC", it sounds like she is having digestive problems.
I swear that the liberal street is engaged in a very loud communal orgasm over the democrat primaries it would put Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky to shame. It is almost as if that is the only game coming soon to our towns. Yippee!
They are so over stimulated I fear that their hyper-enthusiam will soon fizzle.
Hopefully, conservative talk radio hosts will demand that their affiliate radio stations toss these moron ABC bums out and hire professional FOX News to take over the news breaks.

Speaking of Ann Compton, this is an excerpt from an email I sent to a friend who works at an ABC radio station, looking for a meaningful email address to register my ojections:
I almost fell off my chair. Ann Compton just did her report about the increased estimated budget for the Medicare bill, which is fine, but then said (and this is as close to a verbatim quote as I can get because I was listening and working at the same time), "President Bush wants the credit for the sweeping Medicare bill, but not the blame."
I have a real problem with editorializing on the news, and sometimes they'll be more subtle than that, but this is outrageous.
Who heard that? I wish I'd been rolling tape.

I heard a couple of those comments, I think. What I also heard -- I think Ann Compton said this -- something about President Bush saying something about the WND situation in Iraq and then she said "despite what David Kay has said." They are totally ignoring anything Mr. Kay has said that supports the president, and instead, they keep dragging out whatever he said that can be used to attack the president.
Am I surprised? Sadly, no.

ABC news is more entertainment than news anyway. They spent half their top-of-the-hour news broadcast time a few weeks ago just describing Michael Jackson's face as he was arrested. They always have to put some Hollywood story in, taking up space that should have real news. It's pathetic.

We spend a lot of time dissecting television news coverage around here, but radio is where the bias absolutely reigns. Heard CNN Radio lately?

whether or not its warranted, the press smells blood in the water. It was a bad month for Bush. Time to move on. The press wants Bush out of there and will stoop to new lows in order to try and get it. Also, you have Soros pumping as much cash into grassroots efforts, and Hollywood waiting to see who to line up with. This is not going to be an easy campaign, and will probably resemble 2000. Kerry is polling well because the front runner gets all the press and Bush is not campaigning yet (no reason to). The Bush cash machine though is stocked, and should far eclipse anything the Dems will raise. The bottom line though is we need more good news. Capturing Bin Laden would really boost Bush.
Like other conservatives though, I am not too thrilled about the budget going bonkers.
