Democratic Sen. John Kerry and President Bush are in a statistical dead heat in Minnesota, according to a new statewide poll.

Forty-three percent of Minnesota voters favored Kerry compared to 41 percent for Bush. Sixteen percent were undecided, according to the poll commissioned by the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Minnesota Public Radio.

re: "Today, I heard that W wants their jobs to go to "willing" Mexican drivers."

If you listen and adhere to that bs, then your intellect places you in the Democratic Party. )))

Gee, maybe you're right. Only I think I'll continue to support the conservatives that have a little loyalty to conservatives, and Americans.

Maybe you'd care to explain to me why Vicente Fox seems to be running the WH these days? I don't remember him helping much when we were sending our willing boys to Iraq.

Today, I'm hoping that the Supreme Court might protect Americans from Bush--and keep a few jobs out of Fox's hands.

This is going to be a close race, no matter who it is.

But considering that Bush's campaign is just in the organizational, behind the scences stuff, and money stages right now - this isn't unexpected.

And peaking early is a bad thing.

You have knowingly distorted what the bill meant in a crass attempt to criticize the President. He made it abundantly clear that he won't reward illegal behavior. You know it, but you just won't admit it.

Hey, I resemble that remark! Just because I awoke to -34 this morning does not mean that Minnesota is not a nice place to live....(said as I scan charter trips to the Bahamas.)

Vicente Fox is controlling the White House?

Stop lying. Then I might have some respect for you and would engage you in debate.

However, if I'm going to deal with an emotional, fact-twisted debate with a Bush-hater, then I'll go to DU.

There isn't a dime of difference between those of you who consider Bush a sell-out to the Saudis and those of you who believe he is a sell-out to the Mexicans.

Don't even call yourself a conservative. You don't deserve the title. And I sure hope you do not consider yourself a Republican. That would be a travesty.

In all seriousness, what keeps you in Minnesota. While I know the state was settled by Swedes, who are used to that climate, what makes you willing to bear that winter hell?

I looked at it, and he's playing with definitions like Clinton did. It's amnesty whether he chooses to call it that or not. The only thing good about it is that it registers some aliens, but since we can't hope for any future enforcement or deportations (due to the "willing" thing being so important)--even that won't be helpful.

What sent me over the edge was the offer to turn SSecurity over to Vicente.

His plans mock the struggles of the Border Patrol. That billion dollars he's handing to the hospitals to help cover ER care for illegals won't begin to cover the costs, but it might help if he took that same billion and gave it to the Border Patrol, or some program to go after the WILLING employers of illegals.

His plans encourage those in Mexico to make for the US, and increase the numbers of illegals.

And now, he wants those nice safe Mexican truck drivers to take over the jobs of American truck drivers.

Oh, and we got increased NEA funding yesterday. Happy day.

Seems like having an opposition to Clinton during his admin with a GOP house and senate worked better for conservatives than the present arrangement.

Why- cause I was born here-
Why was I born here?- great grand parents were starving to
death in europe- recieved FREE land and a new life
in the U.S.A.!!

This poll is crap- for all you freeper's--

Minn. Public Radio was caught providing DONOR LISTS and
SUPPORT to THE DEMONRAT PARTY!!!- how's that for a public
entity- your tax dollars hard at work- any big trial to
recoup money? imprison officials?- nope -- they have to get out more "polls" on how bad the republicans and Bush are losing the voters.

You don't like what I say, so you call me names in hopes that'll make my concerns and disappointments go away. As for impuning my party loyalty, I'd like to know why I can't expect any loyalty in turn.

Isn't Minnesota a "Blue" state anyway? Bush polling even there would be pretty good.

It really is a great place to live. Plenty to do, a great economy, nice place to live...

Of all the places I've been, I like it here the best.

Dead heat from the state that sent Hubert Humphry to the senate with solid 75% votes - that voted for Mondull for resident..., This is GOOD folks.

This is very bad for Bush to be only at 41%. It suggest on election day he will lose MN by more than 10 points

Nah, it just means you A: take this poll too seriously and B: dont fully understand the Bush campaign.

Minn is liberal. Once a Dem is nominated to run, Bush will then utilize the HUGE warchest in states like Minn. If Bush is pulling these numbers without trying (short of governing the US) then this is a good number (if you want to take this poll seriously)

Aw, heck, Minnesota is South of the Border! Positively balmy weather compared to it's neighbors to the north. I grew up in coastal Maine (which is admittedly considerably warmer than Minnesota) and the weather really wasn't a big deal.

Any incumbent at 41% is in trouble.

MN is not such a liberal state you need to get out of the 1970s and 80s. A dem hasnt won the Governorship there since 1986. In 1998 the DEM candidate for gov got 28% of the vote and in 2002 in the 3 way race the GOP got 46%. It is tn the state of HHH and Mondale anymore.

Bush is actually 5 points under his 2000 vote percent.

Bush is actually 5 points under his 2000 vote percent.

That's assuming:

1.) The poll has sound methodology and is accurate.

2.) Absolutely none of the 16% undecided vote for Bush. The rule of thumb is that an incumbent usually gets about one-third of the undecided, so factoring that in, Bush is right where he was in 2000.
