Put me on that ping list.

My wife loves the recipes - she'll really like the low carb bread machine one.

people on low carb diets are under the impression that eating tons of Butter/Red Meats/Bacon/Eggs is OK. 10-20 years from now when they die of clogged arteries...

My cholestrol went from 220 to 175 on a low-carb, high fat diet...with no change in excersizing...

Do you Atkins weight loosers use salt?
Do you drink 8 glasses of water a day?
Just wondering.

I drink a gallon of water a day, I use salt, and I have lost 59 pounds so far in 75 days. It isn't all the food though. I was sluggish when I started because of the excess weight, but week one I dropped 11 pounds, then I started walking. Now I am doing 4 sub minute miles on the Nordic Track every morning. I have a co-worker who started 3 months before I did, same height, and same weight. He has lost 52 pounds in 5 and a half months, without exercising. The reason that my loss is greater is the working out.

Combine the two together and it is dynamite. You could go the other way, and eat exactly the same you do now, and work out, and you will lose weight.

The beauty about following a low carb way of eating like Atkins, is that exercise is a key component of it.

One good example, people on low carb diets are under the impression that eating tons of Butter/Red Meats/Bacon/Eggs is OK. 10-20 years from now when they die of clogged arteries the buzz word will be (no-Low-carbs).

Drink enough water and I call bullsh$% on your theory as well. I have the blood workup to prove it too.

If anything I need more cholesterol.

Like you, I went low carb in September. Have dropped nearly 50 lbs, reflux is gone and I have gone from a 46" tight to a 38 comfortable!

Thank you for the info. I too have lost weight on the Atkins. I am just coasting now. I may lose some more in a while. I walk a mile a day and stay active. I am so happy with the Atkins diet I will tell anyone who will let me about it.
I do dink the 8 glasses of water and I use salt. I guess if you are drinking a gallon and it works then I am OK, because I drink a lot of water and diet coke.
Congratulations on your weight lost, that is terrific.

I'm having tuna mixed with dill relish, onions, and mayonaise on a few Wheatsworth crackers (9 grams per 5 crackers).

Coq au Vin:

Carlo, the chicken is marinating in the burgundy right now!

I altered your recipe by adding chicken stock to the marinate and italian parsey to the bouquet.

Yummy..I like to place the seafood mixture in the center of a halved avocado and squeeze lemon over it.

No carbs and quite filling. You could use salmon or crab or shrimp as well. ;^)

re sugar free candies -

Be careful w/the sugar free chocolates. The sugar variant that they use can have a laxative effect.

As a diabetic, I've tried some of these candies, but find they are overpriced and not that much different in the carbs. If I want chocolate, I'm gonna have a plain Hershey's bar or one truffle and be done w/it.

It AIN'T the sugar, per se, it's the carbs... One peanut butter cup (even one a day) : ) is not going to do the long term harm that a constant diet of pasta, white bread, and white rice will.

With so much diabetes in my family, I wish I had known that connection. I called myself eating healthily by being mostly vegetarian and eating a lot of carbohydrates - afterall, isn't that what the government told us, lay off the fats and red meat, eat carbs? I wonder how many of us who are genetically predisposed to diabetes have pushed ourselves into it by following government guidelines?

Thanks for the info, I just had 2 lo-carb Pecan Delights (YUM) and 5 minutes later when I looked at your post I thought "Oh My God". LOL

I then looked on the front of the package and it said they were make with Splenda, which I normally don't have a problem with. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!!!!!

I wonder the same thing. I gained weight on the "low fat" diet, but fortunately am otherwise really healthy.
