[history]
Wise-cracking funnyman Al Franken yesterday body-slammed a demonstrator to the ground after the man tried to shout down Gov. Howard Dean. The tussle left Franken's trademark thick-rim glasses broken, but he said he was not injured.
Franken - who seemed in a state of shock and out of breath after the incident - was helped back to his feet by several people who watched the tussle. Police arrived soon after.

If Franken tells the people to shut up, I got no problem (because no one has the right to shout down a public speaker that way). If Franken gets in their face and tells 'em to shut up, I still got no problem. But when he plays self appointed maniac cop, I got a problem, because it reveals a seriously disturbed personality.

"Wise-cracking funnyman Al Franken ". There's an oxymoron for you, with emphasis on the "moron". Has Franken ever said anything even remotely funny?

"In all fairness, if i had a connecting flight, i might have asked the same question, or asked them to hold the plane."
More than likely, Franken wasn't the only one in line who had a connecting flight to make. In fact, Beck said he had a connecting flight to make as well. No one else in line asked for special treatment. Franken wasn't asking them to hold the flight, he was asking them to let him go ahead of everyone else. The problem with making an exception for Franken means that everyone else in line making a connection, would then expect to be pushed ahead in line. You open up a whole can of worms when you make exceptions for certain people. Everyone should be treated the same.

"I got down low and took his legs out," said Franken afterwards.I'd love a crack at this guy.
I've got a little martial arts background (but I haven't trained in years) and I'm going to the gym daily these days.
The trainer says I have 180 lbs of lean muscle mass (under all that blubber, but still....;^D )

Well, gee. When I've been in airports trying to make connecting flights and get held up by security (which happened the last time), the airlines
did make special accomodations to get us through security first.
And it still took forever ;-).

Agreed. He went over the line when he made physical contact with the heckler. There was obviously security personnel in the area, and if he had a problem with the hecklers, he should have complained to security to do something about it, not take matters into his own hands. I'm surprised this guy hasn't been arrested before, based on his history of violent behavior.

Unfortunately, you'd be the one who was arrested. It's just an idle fantasy, but it's fun.
Besides, some things are worth the consequences. ;^)

Could Franken be upset that his movie "Stuart Saves His Family" only took in $300,000?

Yeah, it's assault if your not a celebrity.
I just can't get over the 'body-slam' verbiage. I can just picture Al picking some guy up and slamming him on the ground.
I want to see Al in his glasses all wrapped up w/ scotch tape.
Don't miss Hannity today, He's going to have DEAN on.

Franken is certifiable. I'm not surprised one bit that he resorted to physical violence. The man ought to have him arrested and sue Franken's pants off.

Franken does seem like the kind of person who would carry a gun while trying to stop us from exercising our right to own a gun.Nah, he would pull a Rosie and hire someone else to carry a gun for him.
