I will have an update on why the U.S. State Department issued the denial about Osama's capture instead of the U.S. Department of Defense.

I am sure there is a reason why the government has not released this info if true. Just like they did not release info about President Bush's trip to Baghdad on Thanksgiving. They are well aware that loose lips sinks ships. And if there is someone that is in the government leaking this info to you or to anyone else, the least that should be done is to can the leaker.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "ALEXANDRIA, Va. - A judge rather than a jury will decide the guilt or innocence of four members of what the government calls the "Virginia jihad network" after all four defendants waived their right to a trial by jury.

The unusual move by the defendants, who will go on trial Feb. 9, puts the case solely in the hands of U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema, the same judge who has presided over the case against accused Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui.

The four defendants, all U.S. citizens who live in northern Virginia and the suburbs of Washington, D.C., are charged with conspiring after the Sept. 11 attacks to defend the Taliban against the United States. One of the four, Masoud Khan of Gaithersburg, Md., faces more serious charges of conspiracy to levy war against the United States and conspiracy to support Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network."

BERLIN (Reuters) - An Iranian defector, preparing to testify in Germany's second major Sept. 11 trial, said on Tuesday that a son of Osama bin Laden had personally told Iranian leaders of the planned attacks on U.S. cities in 2001.


Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi rejected the accusation, saying the defector was not credible and had invented his story.

The defector, who goes by the cover name Hamid Reza Zakeri, told Reuters in a telephone interview that al Qaeda had forewarned Tehran of the attacks because it wanted Iran's help in sheltering its leaders afterwards.

"I'm not saying that Iran had a hand in it (Sept. 11). I'm saying that Iran knew about it," Zakeri said.

"Iran would be the safest place for al Qaeda because it wasn't a country where the U.S. could directly or indirectly intervene" to seize al Qaeda leaders on the run after the planned attacks, he added.

Zakeri says he is a former intelligence official who defected in July 2001 and tried to warn the United States, through its embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, that a major attack would take place on or about Sept. 10.

Taking down the national electric grid would cause many deaths, especially in the middle of winter and especially if you combine it with a few nuclear reactors blown up. However, to carry out this kind of coordinated attack would require a level of resources, surveillance and secrecy that seems to me fairly significant.
