The economy was today's hot topic, as the President spoke with participants during a discussion on job training and the economy at Owens Community College in Perrysburg Township, Ohio.
He traveled on to Phoenix to attend a discussion on job training and the economy at Mesa Community College, the day after announcing in his State of the Union address a $250 million proposal for new job-training grants channeled through community colleges.
The White House hosted its second "Radio Day" on Wednesday as an opportunity for local and national radio hosts to interview White House officials and Cabinet members. Full story.
Tomorrow, the President's Economic Advisor Greg Mankiw will discuss the economy on Ask the White House tomorrow at 1:30pm. Submit questions here.
Karen Hughes was today's guest on Ask the White House.
Laura Bush spoke to reporters at Discovery Middle School after visiting a seventh-grade Learning Strategies class in Orlando, Florida. She also took part in a roundtable discussion of research-based education methods for literacy challenged students.

***Her response was, of course, YES, to which she added, "My Mom has EVERY word George W. Bush has ever said on tape!"***
Just how many tapes is that, Ohio?
I was shocked to find, during my organization of our entertainment center yesterday, about 15 tapes with the pres. and /or Laura on them. Now I can get my fix any time! I have blank tapes ready to go, by both VCRs.

Volunteer to walk your precincts...it only takes a couple hours on a Saturday to find out what you'll be doing, a few hours to go to only your Republican neighbor's houses and pass out literature and urge them to vote (and that way, you get to find out who, in your neighborhood you can TALK to ;-), and a couple of hours on Election Day to see if your neighbors voted, and then urge those that didn't to get to the polls - it being SO important. VERY easy, and you feel soooo good afterwards...like you made a difference!
That needs a reprise.

I think we need to spend an additional $100 million for high school and intermediate reading programs.I think we need to stop federal funding of education, but that's just me.
If teachers had any sense of morality and responsibility as a group (not addressing individual teachers), they would be ashamed to have some government program for high school literacy, when they should have taught kids to read in grade school. I've never understood why teachers haven't risen up and realized that all these literacy programs are just a slap in their face, and in effect, say that they can't do their jobs.

Doing OK, homemom........no e-mail yet, no word on how he's doing.......but time is passing, and that's all I'm asking for right now.
No matter what, he should be home in 9 weeks..........that's just ONE grading period! :o)

Dear goodnesswins, welcome back to The Island, and thanks for standing up for the good and the right, braving the onslaught of the ignorant, with all the ugliness that goes with it, for us in Oly.

I don't know if told you but...I get together once a month with dear friends (7 in all) for supper and fellowship and prayer. Your Eric is always on the prayer list. God bless him sweetly. <><

Huh?That was a line Joan Rivers used about Elizabeth Taylor; a rather cruel reference to her weight.
To: radiohead
I don't like to think what our educational system would be without federal funding.

Extremely unkind.

Sounds like you're hanging in there. . . I'm sure it's so good to be counting down, especially when the weeks are in the single digits.
