I think we need to spend an additional $100 million for high school and intermediate reading programs.

I think we need to stop federal funding of education, but that's just me.

If teachers had any sense of morality and responsibility as a group (not addressing individual teachers), they would be ashamed to have some government program for high school literacy, when they should have taught kids to read in grade school. I've never understood why teachers haven't risen up and realized that all these literacy programs are just a slap in their face, and in effect, say that they can't do their jobs.

They say no such thing. It's making sure that the kids who need help get help.

We taught our kids to read before they even entered school, but that's just us.
