Not to make excuses for the UN, but Clinton and Mad Maddie didn't exactly lend support to the UN either, Clinton didn't want to get involved during the mid-term elections.

Romeo Dallaire has a new book out on his experience with this. A must read to learn about how inept the UN is. The general had severe emotional problems due to the guilt he felt at not being able to prevent the genocide.

his superiors had responded negatively to a cable he sent on January 11 1994, in which he asked permission to raid arms caches across the Central African country. That pearl of wisdom, "Forgiveness is easier to obtain than permission" certainly comes to mind here. In Bosnia, Gen. MacKenzie carried out a lot of "unofficial" actions.

You've never heard of the property rights annihilating "sustainable development" developed by the UN??Clinton wildly supported it, creating this 'presidents council on sustainable development'. He also created the WTO, which was also championed by the UN and the Organization of American States and the Summit of the Americas, which are branches of the UN in the Americas.

Don't forget Michael New. Bill Clinton had him court-martialed for refusing to wear a U.N. uniform and serve a foreign U.N. commander.

I was referring to the mission in Rwanda; sure they supported the UN for other things, but for the one time they actually could have done something good, they pulled the plug on them.

More meddling by the UN. Has anyone ever done a study to see how many lives are actually saved by them vs. lives that have been directly or indirectly lost?

So it was Killer Kofi at his worst? And the Felon who did nothing but wish, much later, he had "done something" when he had the chance. Leftists are all pseudo-benevolent.

The UN...does not seem to be a pro-life organization.

Important story detailing typical UN incompetence, but weren't most of the victims slaughtered by pangas?

Dallaire also testified that he had received reports of the regular army training militia groups and distributing arms across Rwanda ahead of the genocide. He said foreigners supervised the training alongside Rwandan officers, without identifying their nationality.
Hmmmmmmmm... Let me see now. Who could that be? What country would arm and train genocidal fanatics merely to advance their interests in the Great Lakes region of Africa? What "foreign country" was allied with the most radical elements of the Hutu leadership?

Hmmmmm... I dunno, could it be...
FRANCE?

weren't most of the victims slaughtered by pangas?Yes they were.
A documentary on PBS several years ago indicated that even Pangas were stockpiled. They were distributed with the edict that it was kill or be killed.
