May he rest in peace. I really liked his low key manner. He was a fine newsman.

He appeared to have gone on a weight-loss diet during his absence last yr. Maybe he was sick..I had not heard that...we don't get MSNBC since we went to Comcast Basic. Really haven't missed it.
To: My Favorite Headache
Just too bad. I had some dealings with him when he ran the NY Post, and he had a great nose for when there was a story there and when there wasn't. Much to the chagrin of my client, and the great delight of metropolitan New York.
And yes, he was just about the best thing MSNBC had going for it.

The TV news business needs more Jerry Nachmans. Now we've got none at all.Timesink, beautifully written tribute to Jerry Nachman.
Guys like Nachman just don't exist anymore.
These were reporters that painstakingly developed their stories. Research was done by doing things such as knocking on doors, developing your sources, making a million phone calls and using the card index file at the local library. Who would have thought of a personal computer or the internet?
Even though technology has improved a journalist's ability to get to a lot more information in less time; Nachman came across as the kind of guy that still grinded it out. That's what made him so damn credible. He wasn't pretty, he was just damn good. He knew his stuff and you knew he knew it better than anyone else.
You are so right, this is a huge loss. I am so sorry to hear about this.

Jerry was kicking butt and taking names when O'Reilly was still learning to control his bowel movements. LOL!
Just by chance, I believe, O'Reilly is a guest on the Imus in the Morning program this morning. I can't take the Factor, but Imus seems to take the hot air out of him and make him seem human.
To: lambo
I'm sure Imus will spend some time remembering Jerry Nachman. Didn't know that much about him until now but did like the one-hour show he had for a while last year. He struck me as Old School. Fifty seven is too young. RIP.

Bump your comments.

I saw him on Fox about a month ago, and thought "WOW! He's losing weight!" I thought he was on a diet, but evidentially, he was becoming sick.
I wish I could find out what killed him. Was it heart?

I wish I could find out what killed him. Was it heart It was cancer, I think gallbladder cancer (or stomach) I heard he had cancer sometime this year, he discussed it I think on Imus's show.
Imus and gang were pretty sad today about his death - the last time I heard him was a (few) month(s) (?) ago giving a report on the Michael Jackson case....
I wonder if he had any family

Nachman will be missed........old school style with more honesty and truth in his reports than all the presstitutes at MSNBCCNNCBSABCFOX combined IMO.
