DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Rep. Dick Gephardt scrapped plans to fly to New Hampshire for next week's primary after a disappointing fourth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses, a source said Monday night, possibly signaling the end of his presidential campaign.
The source said Gephardt would fly to St. Louis, adding, "everything's on the table" with respect to his future plans.
Gephardt won the Iowa caucuses in 1988, when he first ran for the White House, and aides had said openly that he needed to match that this year if he was to remain in the race.

How about packing up and getting back to the job that the tax payers are paying you for, Dickie?

Looks like the backing of Big Labor did not help much.

All of the unions wound up with Dick.
To: Indy Pendance
Gephardt is deeply saddened.

I'll bet he's going to drop out so he can try to maintain his House seat. He's got 9 'RATS running against him in the August 3rd Primary and the filing deadline is March 30th. There are 2 Republicans running as well.

That's what happens to people who call our President "a miserable failure".

Though he by all rights should have been first or second here, I knew Dick Gephardt was in big trouble when he was unable to snag all the union vote at an early date. The power in the union world is no longer people who make anything, it is the edu/medico/gov types who are largely parasitic to an economy (and the two actually ought to be rumbling in the alley with a vengeance, but party discipline has been too good... so far).
I suppose Dick will be the good soldier and take one for the team, but the nice folks of Iowa showed him what loyalty is(n't).

Any news on who Gephardt will endorse?
To: Indy Pendance
I guess Iowa got sick and tired of the same message drummed again and again and again. Gephardt seemed like he was stumping his speeches from his two previous stabs at the Presidency.
To: Lessismore
From his concession speech he'll endorse whoever gets the nomination.

I lived in Iowa for a couple years a long time ago. I don't think it's changed too much, but, they were democratic then, and they were old school democrats. I think many Iowans may have thought Dean was too extreme for them.

Now maybe little Dick can get back to more pressing matters... like Senate votes.
To: Indy Pendance
as dicky was flying to st. louis instead of new hampshire..his billionaire friend telephoned him in flight..said.."keep up the good fight..make me pay more taxes and get this unicorn of mine potty trained.."..dicky obviously said he would do this with every ounce of his body..
