I'm wondering....if Kerry is the nominee, does he have any say over who heads up the DEM party....i.e. McCauliffe?

New Hampshire voters are contrarians. If Dean is ahead in the polls, he will come in 4th.

Has a sitting President ever lost to a Senator?

Wasn't the popular Andrew Jackson a senator when he unseated the never-popular John Quincy Adams in 1828? I can think of no one else who might fit the bill here.

These results tonight tell me just how screwed up the democrats are right now. All summer long we heard that Dean was the man to beat, and Kerry was not going to stand a chance because he voted for the war, the media continually said that America was against the war in Iraq and now we see that Howard Dean was much like Clinton's economy "Smoke & Mirrors"

If Kerry won Iowa because of his stance on the Iraq War, than Iowa will vote for Bush in 2004 by a landslide. I say this because I believe rational democrats understand the threats we face as a nation and Howard Dean is not the answer. These same folks will have a choice to make in November, and when it comes to who will fight and win this war against these Radical MUSLIMS who wish us all DEAD,..... THE CHOICE IS CLEAR

D'oh! I left out Clark!

My pick:

Kerry
Clark
Dean
Edwards

My husband's prediction:

Kerry

Edwards
Clark
... Joseph I. LIEberman!

Dean's third place could mean the return of Nader

"So was Kerry uglier then or now?"

I guess what I have heard the pundents say several times is true.

People pick the tallest.

We should tell it like it is, and not in the last week of October either (how transparent, only slimeballs do that). Character counts.

I don't think these primaries will have much to do with who wins come November. The general election will be won in Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. And it is going to be about Bush, not about his opponent. If Iraq is relatively calm, and the economy is continuing to improve, and the market hasn't crashed, it could be any of the Dems and it wouldn't matter. And if Iraq degenerates, and the economy tanks, and the market crashes, it could be any of the Dems.

IMO.

What I find amazing is how so much hype is given to the Iowa Caucuses and how the media reports it shifts public opinion in other states and yet the winner in Iowa rarely wins the nomination or the Presidency.

Does anyone else think that one of tonight's biggest losers (in addition to the obvious, Gephardt and Dean) might have been Wesley Clark?

Skipping Iowa always seemed a questionable strategy to me. Now, Clark might be lost in the New Hampshire shuffle as a Kerry-Dean death match ensues. And Edwards's unexpectedly strong showing throws a wrench into Clark's Southern strategy. At least, that's the way I see it...

Predictions are fun, aren't they? But I don't think so. For Kerry to lose the debates, folks will need to perceive a haughty patrician leitmotif. Kerry is learning to bury that puppy. Kerry won't get tripped up much in mis-statements. He is no Dean. That is one benefit of tough primary fights. It tends to give the candidates a lot of experience at honing their projection.

The story makes no sense......none at all. The scenario described by the rescued man suggests that Kerry was alone on the boat. Is that possible that even tho he had been shot he would turn the boat around and go back into the line of fire.

Does anyone know if there is only one person to boat?

They're house is a museum,
When people come to see 'em,
They really are a scream,
The Kerry Family.
