Rep. Dennis Kucinich Thows His Support Behind Sen. John Edwards for Iowa Caucus

Rep. Kucinich of Ohio just said on MSNBC that if he hears from the early estimates this afternoon that he is not getting 15% that he will throw his Iowa support to US Senator John Edwards of North Carolina.

He did not comment about if he was dropping out of the race or not.

I will be absent for awhile tonite. I will be attending my own precinct caucus. We have County Central Committee members to elect, County Convention Delegates to elect and then of course, the real work, the beginning of the groundwork on the Party Platform.

The Republican Caucuses may be low key, but there is important work to be done.

Kucinich is just throwing a hissy fit like a little girl cuz Edwards never said anything bad about him.

I don't think that W will have a different running mate. I would not be surprised, however, to see Dick Cheney bow out as VP in 2006 and Condi nominated at that time.

Still, I think most Kucinich supporters care more about radical liberalism than what the candidate instructs them to do (besides, if they were good at following directions they probably wouldn't be Kucinich supporters in the first place), so I would guess that way less than half of Kucinich voters will vote for Edwards.

Some might even go Gephardt. Kucinich is popular with the protectionist crowd.

If the primaries are still all over the place between these four clowns, not that this would happen but again ya never know, when would be the latest Hillary "the healthcare queen" could get in??

In my opinion, Hillary will not get in until the convention.

If no candidate has the numbers needed for the nomination, they will have to take a second vote.

On the second vote, delegates can vote for whoever they want.

Hillary is hoping she can win that second vote, avoid the primaries, and be annointed.

She will then try to campaign without really answering questions.

I agree. Edwards is the one I worry about the most, especially after I saw the clip where his wife brought their children to an appearance.

Your take on Mrs. Dean? Dr. Judith is making a last-minute campaign appearance in Iowa, the first look most of us have had at her.

I think she might soften up a few wavering voters. She seems very personable and authentic compared to the usual overcooked, tense and brittle political wifey types.

I've been a bit puzzled at all the questions about her continuing her internist practice. I thought the Dims believed women should be independent of their husbands and all liberated and bra-less and stuff.

Judith Dean is no Laura Bush. But she has a certain personability that might be very popular among younger women, especially the I-don't-need-no-man career women.

I think Judy-Judy-Judy is a small last-minute bump for Howie. Nice tactic. She's an asset.

This is Kucinich's inside bet. He won't win any delegates anyway. This is his bow-out and Edwards will indirectly help pay off his meager campaign debt in return for this so-called vote swap.

Does Kucinich have campaign debt? He's been raising more money than Edwards recently -- seriously.

The few pesos he's picked up are pretty recent. I've read that he and Carol Mostly Fraud and the Reverend all ran shoestring campaigns and leeched off their local supporters shamelessly.

I was mostly speculating on Edwards' paying of Kucinich campaign debt. Maybe Kucinich will duck out with his newfound presidential funds and channel it into a Senate campaign later.

Kucinich is very weird but not stupid. He never did believe he'd get the nomination or get on the ticket. So we should look for an ulterior motive behind his entire campaign.

Yes. Dean campaign printed up flyers saying that Dean was the only Dem against the war. Since that's not true, Dean people fine-printed that Dean was the only MAJOR candidate. Before any primaries, any votes at all, Dean was classing self as a major candidate and Kucinich as insignificant.

It's not so odd that Kucinich would be so anti-war and then endorse pro-war Edwards. He was also pro-life until recently. That's Dem politics.
