Rush's PERFECT comments Re: Donovan McNabb

For those who missed it, Limbaugh performed the most perfect comments on Donovan McNabb this morning by not even mentioning his name.

Instead he contrasted the way that Payton Manning came out and took responsibility for his performance against the way that the media instantly set out to blame the Eagles' wide recievers for what happened to them.

It was the best revenge, because by not mentioning McNabb, no one in the media can say that Rush attacked McNabb, but to all us football fans, what Rush DIDNT say, was LOUD AND CLEAR. Thanks Rush!

AS a Titans fan, I can tell you that it cuts both ways. Yes, he inspires the fans and his teammates, but there are times when he is so hobbled that having him in there is possibly worse than having the backup in there (this year Volek and O'Donnell). The key is figuring out where that threshold is - and hopefully next year Fisher will find it (or improve the OL)

What about Stan Humphries in the playoffs with a separated throwing shoulder, leading the Chargers to the Super Bowl? Pretty painful, I would think.

I don't question whether any player who says he's hurt should leave---he knows if he's hurt. But you are completely wrong on the interpretation of this rule IF the officials thought McNabbit was not "down by contact." The rules do NOT protect any QB in any situation other than having just released the ball in a pass, or in sliding FEET FIRST. All other positions or movements are fair game until the whistle or the sideline markers end the play.

My best friend and I watched the second half as well, and couldn't believe all the excuses the commentators were giving for why the Eagles were so bad. Collingsworth was by far the worst.

Are you as much of a drama queen when you're busy "officiating local and regional games"? And as for who I am, I'm the guy who's right and you're the one who's wrong. So much for your officiating experience. And the last time I checked those rules (ahem, high school) differed from those used in the NFL so you may want to actually check into it before you go running your mouth.

Not once did I say I was happy to see him get hurt or that I hated the eagles, all I have ever said is that the defender made a LEGAL hit. Which he did regardless of what your pseudo-proffessional opinion is.

Listening to all the Eagles fans crying about "cheap shots" is amusing, considering the history of the team. The fact is that Philly should never have even been in this game in the first place, and every football fan not partial to the Eagles knows it.

Danny White was run out of Dallas after getting to the NFC championships three years in a row . . . and losing. The only guys who seemed to keep their jobs after such a performance were the Buffalo Bills of the early 1990s.

McNabb came back into the game a few times, he wasn't out completely until the last 5 minutes. Didn't seem to give the team a lift. And when you're down by 11 you need a QB to do more than just hand off the ball.

McNair is psychotic, I love him but he's nuts and isn't a fair comparison to most of the QBs out there.

Favre plays by the old Vince Lombardi motto: "If you can stand, you can walk. If you can walk, you can run. If you can run, you can play."

Favre once played after yakkin' up blood on the sidelines. I've been watching him his whole career. There is no way in heck he'd be standing on the sidelines of a playoff game, watching someone else QB his team.

Good points. My "Monday morning" perspective is that Donovan McNabb shouldn't even be the main concern for the Eagles. He was a "non-factor" in yesterday's game, in that there were some more serious issues facing the team that resulted in the loss.

First and foremost: For the life of me, I cannot understand how a team can go to three consecutive NFC championship games, and show up woefully unprepared for every one of them. The Eagles (particularly on offense) looked like they didn't even step on the practice field for one minute last week. I think it was former Giant linebacker Carl Banks who pointed out that "you'd expect them to show up with a chip on their shoulders -- but for the third straight year, they didn't."

In addition to that, it should be pointed out that Philadelphia may very well have the worst set of receivers in the entire league. For that front office to think it could make a major step forward this year -- without making any upgrades among their wide receivers -- was pretty baffling.

I haven't liked Collinsworthless for some time. He is a bleeding heart---seems to me I've heard him make comments on the "Inside the NFL" program with Costas.

I am a Cowboy fan, but think the team with him and Troy Aikman is a disaster. Troy begins every comment with, "He sure does, Chris," or "They sure are." He never challenges anything Collinsworthless says (at least that insufferable Paul Maguire disagrees with Joe Theismann once in a while).

The point I'm making is that McNabb isn't the only guy in an Eagle uniform that has lost the last three NFC championship games and stating it like McNabb is the only guy that was in all three of those losses is not accurate.

Collinsworth is the master of stating what's popular among his media brethren, and Aikman is the master of the obvious.

Neither one of them are insightful or interesting, IMO.

See, that's the point: QBs do NOT get a pass in other cities. In Dallas, the fans rip Quincy Carter, despite a 10-6 season with a team figured to win 7 games. Jon Kitna in Cincy gets no love. But McNabbit was the second coming.

I think I said he was only a mediocre QB if you kept him from running as Carolina did. Given his running ability, I would NOT say he is "mediocre," but pretty good---like Michael Vick. However, I also think that a running QB is in for a very short career. The only "scrambler" ever to win a championship was Roger Staubach, AFTER Landry got him to be a pocket passer. Fran Tarkenton had perhaps the longest career of any scrambler . . . but never won the big one.
