Rush's PERFECT comments Re: Donovan McNabb
me
Posted on 01/19/2004 9:26:26 AM PST by Pukin Dog
For those who missed it, Limbaugh performed the most perfect comments on Donovan McNabb this morning by not even mentioning his name.
Instead he contrasted the way that Payton Manning came out and took responsibility for his performance against the way that the media instantly set out to blame the Eagles' wide recievers for what happened to them.
It was the best revenge, because by not mentioning McNabb, no one in the media can say that Rush attacked McNabb, but to all us football fans, what Rush DIDNT say, was LOUD AND CLEAR. Thanks Rush!

Rush must have read my comments on the playoff thread. ;) I pointed out the very same thing about Manning. Manning said that when a QB throws an INT, its the QBs fault, and no one else.
To: Pukin Dog
The Eagles haven't had many personal changes over the last three years. No other RB, or WR, or headcoach, or DB, or LB has lost 3 straight NFC Championship games either.
McNabb had at least 6 throws that hit the receiver on both hands and didn't get caught (one got coughed up for Mannings' 3rd INT of the day), those misses were entirely the fault of the receiver. Put those 6 completions in his stats and McNabb had a pretty good though not stellar day. Once the QB puts the ball in somebody's hands everything that happens after that isn't his fault.

the league specifically prohibits throwing your entire weight upon a defenseless quarterback Huh? "Entire weight upon"? Watch the replay...the Panther player was on his knee and drove just his arm into McNabb.

Jerry Richardson's been around the NFL for alot longer than Jeff Lurie . . . (but not as long as the owners of the Packers).

In the event you haven't been paying attention you're dead wrong on this subject. who the hell are you? Not only am I not "dead wrong", I'm far more qualified than you to speak about it, for several reasons, not limited to my experience officiating local and regional football games.
And, separate from the inconsistently applied rules, while you might have been happy to see an athlete get unnecessarily injured, I don't think you speak for most of america, or even most of eagle-hating FR.
To: Libertarian4Bush
Agreed. Compared to basketball and especially baseball, the NFL keeps fiddling with their rules and, thus, creats more problems than they solve. Unitas never had to have these sissy-fied QB protections. And what about intentional grounding? What a joke that "rule" is, now!

The quarterback is supposed to do more than throw the ball. He is the leader of the team. Had McNabb come back in the game, only to hand off the ball, it would have given his team a lift, and no one could say he tanked.
McNair would play with a missing arm. McNabb sat it out.

The Eagles haven't had many personal changes over the last three years.over half of yesterday's roster were not on the roster for the NFC title game in StL two years ago.
not sure what point you were trying to make, so I don't have a horse in the race, but there have been a LOT of changes.

Thats right, you don't even MAKE the playoffs the in-between year.Dynasty my...... Oh, come on. The Pats could not possibly have done more than they did in that incredible win over Miami. Unfortunately for them, the Jets won the division on the AFC tie-breaker. Very close, unfair comments, imo.
To: Libertarian4Bush
it's not as easy as "cowboy up." The guy played a whole game on a broken ankle last year. So did McNair, and more. Big deal.
To: montag813
Watch the replay...I have. And I also saw it in person.
We get to keep ONE meritocracy, and the racist fringe (not necessarily YOU personally) had to go and effin' ruin it. Just be happy that the big bad black QB is out of the playoffs.

So did McNair, and more. Big deal. yeah, I'm sure you put those NFL guys to shame, clicking a mouse with a brain injury.

Tell it to Emmitt Smith taking it to the Giants with a dislocated shoulder.

Bo Jackson played his final regular-season game in college with two cracked ribs and still ran for 142 yards and two scores against Alabama.

The National Guard would have to go get Favre out, because he would never leave. As much as I dislike him, Favre has heart.
