Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is ruling out the prospect of returning to America to raise her child - because she deems her homeland too dangerous. The Oscar winning beauty - who is pregnant with her husband Chris Martin 's baby - has been living in London since settling down with the Coldplay star, and she has no intention of bringing up their child in a threatening environment. She says, "I worry about brining up a child in America. At the moment there's a weird, over-patriotic atmosphere over there, like, 'We're number one and the rest of the world doesn't matter.' And the guns in school - it's not great."

I've thought about this for some time. What's going on is the difference between America and Europe. There is much less of a filter between leaders and the populace here than there.

So, we have that an elitist not only never has to associate with the lower classes, but never has to worry about being governed by them or even elites who share their sentiments.

The Labour party could never have a Howard Dean. Not that they could never have somebody with such goofy views (they have Galloway, after all) but they could never have anyone that the party disapproves of so much. The party leaders choose candidates as well as the ministers. There are no primaries in Britain.

And Britain is the most democratic country in Europe. Look at France. The National Front exists because there is no major political force -- party or otherwise -- that can talk about certain issues. You can get fined for hate speech.

Even anti-Americanism in Europe is a way for leaders to distract from their own failures. If ordinary Europeans only realized that their leaders don't hold them in much more esteem than the crude Americans, they might feel differently.

Let us hope her career goes nowhere. She obviously doesn't have a brain in her head and doesn't deserve to carry an American passport. It should be most amusing when something large gets blown up in London by her Muslim pals. Well, it'll probably be all our fault. Not. God, I have an idiot son in NZ who mouths the same Eurocentric baloney. He has all the brains in the world and not one lick of common sense. But he'd never leave America for the reasons Paltrow gave. He's in NZ because that's where he's a college prof. Not many jobs here for a behavioral psych prof.(It's out of fashion). He's an American through and through. But he did ask if we were all flying flags when he emailed me right after 9/11. He'd bought into that 'Bush is a dumb cowboy and who knows what he'll bomb first!' baloney. I can't stand Paltrow and the rest of those actors/actresses/entertainers, who've made millions because of this country, and yet bad mouth it every chance they get in order to impress their Euroidiot pals.
