LOTR trivia: There were some Xena alumni in the LOTR trilogy. The elf that died (Craig Parker) is one of them.

"The message all the kids I know came away with is there is honor in fighting for what is right."
My 9-year-old daughter has decided to become a warrior, and a soldier, and fight for the right, even if it isn't possible to win. She can't wait for LOTR:ROTK to come out on DVD, either. She said "If I can't win, at least I won't have to live with it."

Googling "elf meat":
ELF, IT'S WHAT'S FOR DINNER!
The Food Association on Kender and Elves, also known as F.A.K.E., has released a report several days ago giving evidence that for other races, elf meat is extremely nutritious. SO nutritious, in fact, that it may actually prolong ones lifespan by several years, cure diseases and wounds, and alleviate pains and illnesses. In a move that shocked nobody, the Elven nations Qualinesti and Silvanesti have yet again closed their borders, but to no avail.

I always enjoyed his portrayal of Professor Arturo on Sliders, as well as his guest appearances as Da Vinci on ST:Voyager. They would have been better off letting Leonardo captain the Voyager, and leave Janeway on the holodeck...
A fine actor, and refreshing to hear for a change, one who is well-grounded in reality.

would Gimli make a better soldier or a Marine? Tough, by anyone's definition. Proud and bullish about his pride. Mulishly determined that his kind are better than any other (but secretly willing to support and bond with other true warriors). Competitive as the day is long. Slightly bloodthirsty. Takes pride in unusual (and effective) weapons. Enjoys a good pint, salt pork and a good smoke. Looks like a bulldog.
Yep. A Marine.

I knew I was on the right track, or, errr elf!!! lol!
I have to say I fell in love with some of the characters honor and integrity, and such courage! Where do we find men like that these days?

"I just think it's hilarious that these anti war actors have done more by making this trilogy to convince the younger generations that somethings are worth fighting for and you will have to eventually make a stand in your life for good or evil." I really enjoy the irony of that as well. The acting was exceptionally good throughout.

My 4 year old son asked me just this morning if I "Fight for Freedom".
One of the proudest moments of my life, even though I have done so little, my son is aware of the struggle.
He has seen the LOTR: FOTR and TT and is a big fan of the old GI Joe videos I found for my kids.

"And the lefties which happen to be friends of mine have become too intimidated to get into a political debate with me" I've had that experience too, from my few liberal friends, to co-workers and even to my sister, who, while not a true leftist, has still not recovered from the working over I gave her for defending Clinton when he was impeached. I'm not particularly argumentative, but I'm not too good at hiding my feelings about things either and I do have a tendency to allow sarcasm to slip out unchecked with some regularity.
