I realize I'm biased, but conservative actors always seem far more intelligent than the liberal ones.

Just after listening - wow.

He's more certainly informed than any of the anti-war pundits that have appeared to moan and scream about the war.

Michael should play some of Viggo reciting his anti-war poetry for Rhys-Davis.

Thank God. I was so disgusted by Elijah Wood and Sean Astin's commentary track on "The Two Towers" DVD, I had to turn it off.

Sean Astin? Are you sure? Michael said he's a spokeman for the Army.

OK here's a good question: Notwithstanding his size relative to humans, would Gimli make a better soldier or a Marine? :-)

Well, since you imply he's not human, probably a Marine.

Sorry! (Ducks).

Yes, Sean Astin. It surprised me as well.
He said that he was about to autograph some Sam toy or card, and he automatically started to use his usual autograph, an excerpt from Sam's incredible speech,

"...there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fightin' for."

when he realized that he didn't believe it.

When he was on the show Sliders, John Rhys-Davies fought to make his character a role model rather than being amoral and power-hungry.

Actor: John Rhys-Davies
Birthdate: May 5, 1944
Birthplace: Wiltshire, England
Height: 6' plus

Biography: John Rhys-Davies studied at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and in addition to his distinguished theatre work - Othello, Macbeth and Falstaff - has taken leading roles in many movies among them Victor/Victoria, The Living Daylights, King Solomon's Mines and the 1992 remake of Conan Doyle's The Lost World in which he starred as Professor Challenger.

Dynanism is something that the Welsh-born actor well understands, having played several such film parts, including his memorable appearances as Harrison Ford's roguish sidekick, Sallah, in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

His prolific television-credits include playing Vasco Rodriguez in James Clavell's Shogun, Agent Malone in the British series The Untouchables, and Joe Gargery in Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. Rhys-Davies has also starred in the TV mini-series War and Rememberance and has made guest appearances in Murder, She Wrote and Star Trek: Voyager, in which he was twice portrayed Leonardo Da Vinci!

Also did the voice of Treebeard, guardian of the forest.

Gimli was my favorite character. I think he and Legolas were the bravest warriors in the story.
