Prayer Request. Stepson threatened by Gang

Would like to once again call upon the FREEPER Prayer Network.

Over the weekend my Step-Children's Dad's house was broken into. Numerous Firearms, personal items, jewelry and his work Truck (2002 Chevy Pickup) were stolen.

During the subsequent look around the house, they found 2 cigarettes (apparently an off brand or something) that our 17 year old son recognized as ones smoked by another teenager who lived down the street. Then during police interviews he remembered this guy asking casual questions about his dad, his job, etc etc on the bus.

Finally a neighbor has come forward and said that he saw a van parked in front of the house the night it was broken in to. While the description is not exact, it closely matches the van driven by the kid asking the questions etc.

Unfortunately, all of this is not enough evidence for the cops to pick up the kid, but as it always works the word has gotten to him that my stepson identified him as a possible suspect.

We have just found out that this kid is a gang member, and has an extensive record of burglaries, assaults, drug charges, etc etc.

He has passed word through mutual friends and acquantances that he has "marked" our son with his gang, and that he is "dead".

PLease pray that the police find ample evidence to pick up this little punk, and that his threats are just the idle threats of a 17 year old thug.

The police have been informed of the threat, but we got the standard "we can only do so much, blah blah blah."

FWIW, the one time in my life I was once involved in a situation in which a person in law enforcement gave me an answer like this became the one time in my life that I took the law into my own hands.

And I had already made up my mind that if I had been prosecuted for my actions, I would have seen to it that the person who gave me that answer would have wished he were never born.

I have used a laser pointer (hits to 1/2 mile) on groups of gang members in parks and shopping center parking lots that I frequent.

The object was to light one up where as the others could see the mark, and the shut down when they turn to see from where it was coming from. When this is done on several encounters, the gangs tend to not visit that area due to being watched and lit-up with what they think is a laser sight.

I was had been doing this from 100-150 yards out to keep them guessing and not knowing.

Yes. As I said, I don't recommend doing what I did.

However, family comes before legal considerations. I hope commish can get a handle on this situation soon.

My hubby probably would have done the same thing in your situation and he's a cop....I know, some people here don't like the cops.

Some police officers are power-hungry jerks with littleman syndrome and give the profession a bad name. The rest are fine people doing the best job they can. The officers in this case obviously can not do what they would probably dearly love to do to these punks.

It's a bad situation all around and these punks hold all of the cards.....for now!

If you have a personal relationship with Jesus, i.e. you have repented of your sins and asked Him to be your Lord, you have the authority in the spiritual realm to claim protection from the gangs. It would help if your son also has a relationship with Jesus.

A pastor told a true story of a family in a similar situation. The parents invited the gang members to have dinner at their house, and served them good food. At the end of the dinner, the parents kindly but firmly told the gang members that because they were not Christians, they would have to cut the connection to their son. They didn't say much, but the meal ended okay. Within six months (or a year) all the gang members were either dead or removed in one way or another.

This may not apply perfectly to your situation, but pray for wisdom and for spiritual protection. I would definitely get the son out of there, if possible.

God bless. In the mean time, I pray for you Commish, for your wife, and for your son, that God in His mercy will supernaturally protect all of you. Lord, please protect Commish's son and keep him safe from all harm.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that commish and his wife have a FReeper family who will prayerfully stand in the gap on behalf of their son. We call upon the Angelic Host to stand guard over this family every second of every day and that harm would not come to any of them. I pray, O God, that You would bring the guilty ones to light ... may they become careless and so become entrapped by their own actions. Strike fear into their hearts and send them into confusion ... may they scatter before the penetrating light of justice, but may none escape consequence. Guide commish and his wife in the ways they treat this ordeal, that everything done would bring resolution without harm to this family, for I pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen ...
