1.You presume too much. You don't know my mother.

2.70% of America's citizens are not the extreme fringe.

I was defending you the other day to the Admin Moderator, as you have usually played a reasonable Devil's Advocate. If you're going to resort to insults and juvenile behavior I regret having done so. Tell us why you think this slide into entropy is worth defending. If you have been reading, as the rest of us do, about the costs, tragedies, pollution, increased corruption, reduced earnings and breakdown of law our "guests" bring with them you must share how their ever-growing presence is going to make up for all that with the rest of us.

There's no incentive to assimilate or learn our language when they can be deported at a moment's notice. >>>>>>>>

ROTFLMAS......Why does LA county (just to name ONE) spend an extra MILLION *just* for bi-lingual ballots each election ???

So who's right?? We say, people aren't assimilating (learning ENGLISH) in the USA........'Cause *if* your right the gov't must be deporting CITIZENS "at a moments notice.

(have I missed your answer on this one ??)

It is not racist for a country to plan on having a cohesive society.

Bush's action reminds me of an example; it goes like this: A gang of car thieves go around steeling cars and ripping them apart and selling the parts. When the police finally found them, the consumers complained that they will lose a good source of cheap auto parts. The police decided instead to allow the gangs to continue on stealing cars on the condition that they would have to report the number of car parts, and charge sales tax. This story blows my mind. There is no way in hell any self respecting conservative should ever support such a scheme. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I suspect W. is playing a bigger game that we can't easily see.

The 'game' IMO is geopolitics. The fact of the rise of developing nations is either we will have cheaper labor in the US, or the cheaper labor will be done elsewhere.

Power follows money, and money is going overseas to China, to India, to all the places without all the excessive regulations and taxes (and union wages) that make producing things here so expensive.

As you suggest, the full picture isn't known, but IMO this whole thing smells to me like some maneuvering to position USA/Canada/Mexico (NAFTA) against the rising Asian economic bloc.

I say this because W is not dumb, he knows this political reaction against this proposal would be significant, and so it makes no sense to propose this as part of an election strategy. If it's not for his personal political gain, it has to be something else, and I'm not eager to jump on the "W is part of the NWO conspiracy to ruin America" mindset.

You request my comments?

I sent a supportive email to the address, provided yesterday, for the border patrol organization. Beyond that, my only comment is that what is going on is totally outrageous and provides the clearest possible evidence that the Administration in Washington has totally wrong priorities, and no understanding of what constitutes a nation.

What to do about it? I believe that we have to rethink a lot of our once wishful thinking. There is no easy path to preserving the America we believe in. But not to try by every honorable means, possible, is to sink to the morally debased level of the political establishment that would surrender her.

Once again, my views on immigration have been set down:

Immigration & The American Future. That is basically the same position that I took as a College Freshman, many years ago, when my Government Professor and Faculty Advisor suggested that if that was my position, maybe I had better consider changing my major. Well, I didn't then. And my position remains the same.

Thanks for the ping! It sounds like the agents' union doesn't much care for Bush's plan.

I thank you very much for your quick response to the Border Patrol Agents, who are up against a heluva fight with the AFL-CIO. They are becoming our new farmer's, steel mills, etc in this country when we should be rewarding them!!!

Great post! Love the cartoon. But, I have to wonder...

Why hasn't the one who calls herself "Fair" bothered to respond when she was quite boisterous on the subject just yesterday. I guess if she can't call those of us who oppose this faulty policy "Dean supporters" she has nothing to say.

Thanks for the pings! :-)

You mean a union leader representing a branch of the American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO. You will find they are hardly big advocates of conservative ideas.

That's what I was thinking, union sniping. Bush isn't undercutting their jobs, they let them get through after all.

Today he stated not only does in believe in NAFTA but that NAFTA shouls expand, that NAFTA has been good for us!

Free trade is good. Why do you think Nafta has been bad? Did it cause unemployment to go up? Did it cause wages to decrease?

No one was "let through". Every agent of the United States Border Patrol works diligently to stop the continued infiltration of our borders by ILLEGALS.

Lack of funding and/or manpower is the prime reason for ILLEGALS making their way into the US. Only an idiot would blame the hard-working men and women of the INS, men and women who put their lives in the line each day to protect our borders in spite of the overwhelming odds against them.

Well, if President Bush can offer a plan supposedly based on 'hispandering' then why can't border agents get their palms greased by coyotes? I soundly reject both charges and insinuations.

FWIW...

You're in the extreme minority both across the nation and on FR as you can see here.

I'm suspicious of those that blame someone else after the job didn't get accomplished regardless of the reason, and then does it in such a parading way as to say "Fahgettaboutit" to the media. That has RAT tactics written all over it. This guy looks like a union partisan.

Yeah, it simply looks like the RAT unions taking advantage of a headline as always.
