BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - Chances are, Democratic Party consultants won't take credit for the hardest-hitting anti-Bush ad to air on network TV this month. That honor will likely go MoveOn.org, an online group that has become too potent for establishment politicians to ignore.

Notice Al Gore's use of Moveon for major speeches, one last August, one coming up next week:

Former Vice President Al Gore
Remarks to MoveOn.org
New York University
August 7, 2003

AND

Al Gore to Expose Bush on Environment, Global-Warming

The funny thing is just today some paper in England had an article about Bush and global warming, and surprise suprise, here's algore about to revive the topic. Obviously Moveon.org is working hand in glove with the dems and is not some independent organization.

Excerpt from article regarding Gore's upcoming speech:

NEW YORK, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver a major address attacking the Bush Administration's policies on global warming and the environment at the historic Beacon Theatre in New York City on Thursday, January 15. The speech is being co-sponsored by MoveOn.org and Environment2004.

MoveOn paved the way, evolving in six short years from something of a cybergeek forum to arguably the largest and most forceful voice in digital-era politics.

Hard to see how they can credibly advance the claim of being the largest and most forcefully anti-Bush voice in digital-era politics, given the virulently hysterical anti-GWB spewings all over this site during the past week or so; all of them, purportedly, courtesy of (*kaff*kaff*) "lifelong Republican voters," no less.

Spare me the outrage over MoveOn's hateful "Bush=Hitler" ads from now on, please. After having seen GWB slurred -- idiotically and irresponsibly -- as a "traitor," a "war criminal," a "socialist" and a "liberal" right here, on this very site... I'd have to say, in all naked honesty: THEY'RE not where our problems genuinely lie, ultimately.

More's the pity.

They've got some very good web design work there. But you're right. They're talking about October and November events in the future tense. This was my first visit there, as well.

The over-the-top, Bush-as-Hitler ads were not hard hitting. They had the reverse effect of highlighting the left as the extremist liars they are.

Just visited first (and probably only) time and joined their free forum. The site is overrun with conservatives! This site is goin' down as an effective tool for propaganda! All they can do, it seems, is whine about conservative infiltration as they lose control of their ivory tower plan to percolate their best apologetics to the top by a collegial approach.

The ads were rather juvenile and typified the Left's disdain for the intelligence of the general population, much like the article on the editorial page of the Seattle PI, that claimed that the S factor was responsible for Bush's popularity (s factor=stupidity).

MoveOn got a lot of press for their antiBush-war stance and "credibility" among the public because the press didn't bother to tell the public that MoveOn is a partisan PAC (not a non-profit charity).

If they would tell the public that these people are Socialists too, they would diminish in power even more.

MoveOn has revised their website a number of times but I wouldn't have classified them as a "forum". Free Republic, Indymedia, and even DirtyUnderwear are forums.

I remember seeing the following post about cpusa.org removing their link to moveon.org

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/987244/posts

also, search by keyword "cpusa" to see more of the Amecian Communist Party support for Dems.

Come on! Do any of you really think there are people out there surfing the web, come up on MoveOn.org and suddenly decide to vote based on the trash they see?

If so, enough to make a difference?

right here, on this very site...

Yeah, whatever. When George Soros gives us 5 million dollars to play with and we make a commercial to go on television, then I might note the similarities.

Your response does nothing whatsoever to gainsay or contradict what i wrote. You obviously need to re-read it; here it is, again.

"Spare me the outrage over MoveOn's hateful 'Bush=Hitler' ads from now on, please. I'd have to say, in all naked honesty: THEY'RE not where our problems genuinely lie, ultimately."

Try again: MoveOn's likening of GWB to Hitler is somehow worse than (supposed) conservatives referring to him as a "traitor" and a "war criminal" HOW, precisely...? [HINT: George Soros has nothing whatsoever to do -- or, at least, should have nothing whatsoever to do -- with whether (purported) "conservatives" publicly smear a sitting Republican President with the term "war criminal" or not.]

And when you saw people refer to Bush in this manner, did anyone here argue with 'em?

What about the Jewish groups who were rightfully outraged over these videos? Is it ok for them to be outraged?

It is entirely correct that we should be outraged over these ads. You having run across people here who are unhappy with Bush notwithstanding.

You're simply attempting to dodge the open, honest answering of a question (now repeated a third time, I might add) by asking questions yourself, instead. Not being five years old, myself: I'm not exactly likely to be gulled by such an arthritic gambit as all of that.

Third time lucky (one hopes and prays), with no more evasions: MoveOn's likening of GWB to Hitler is somehow worse than (supposed) conservatives referring to him as a "traitor" and a "war criminal" HOW, precisely...?

I suspect we both know, of course, that the only honest answer to the above query, when you get right down to it, is: It isn't, really. Not in any way that genuinely matters. Not in any way that genuinely ought to matter, to true conservatives.

The only difference between us, insofar as I can see, is: I'm not shy about actually saying it, in polite company.

I'm attempting to dodge squat.

First of all, I have never called Dubya anything like that.

Second, I reject your notion that conservatives call Dubya that. You might run up against a few that do- I don't know. But they certainly don't speak for all conservatives.

And yes, it is worse what MoveOn is doing. You have not heard any conservative at this forum liken our President to Hitler.

I'm attempting to dodge squat.

So you say. I cannot help but notice, however, that the question remains (!!!) unanswered.

There are but a limited number of interpretations one might reasonably draw from that. One is that you do not understand the question being asked. The other is that you are (for whatever reason) unwilling to answer it, in the same open spirit it was offered. I'm willing to be charitable, up to a point.

First of all, I have never called Dubya anything like that.

Gratifying, but irrelevant, unless you'd care to point out for me anyplace I stated you had said so. Exact lines, complete and in context, please.

Second, I reject your notion that conservatives call Dubya that.

"Reject" all yoyu like, as best pleases you. The myriad pinheaded postings to that effect are littered throughout this very board, and speak for themselves. Go through the lengthier immigration-related threads, and start reading.

And yes, it is worse what MoveOn is doing.

Still waiting for the "why" on this one. Presumably, said answer will be arriving sometime between five minutes from now and the end of the world.

No, I answered your question. Go back and read. I said I think what MoveOn is doing is worse.

I think you ought to ease up a little bit. You and I are on the same side here. Save the venom for liberals and those posters you mentioned who are running around calling Bush a traitor.

I don't have any patience for anyone who wants to get uncivil.

No, I answered your question. Go back and read. I said I think what MoveOn is doing is worse.

My reading comprehension skills are, in all modesty, matchless, thank you. I've already noted you said "MoveOn is worse." What you've yet to answer (again) is: why...?

I think you ought to ease up a little bit. You and I are on the same side here. Save the venom for liberals and those posters you mentioned who are running around calling Bush a traitor.

I've directed no venom your way. I suggest, in all kindness, that you are being remarkably thin-skinned in this matter. If you opt to take my pointing out that you have yet to answer a direct question as "venom"... that's more your action than mine, and I'm unwilling to accept responsibility for same.

I don't have any patience for anyone who wants to get uncivil.

You have yet to see me even within decent spitting distance of "uncivil." This is a public debate forum. You post a comment; someone else gets to ask you questions on it. You elect to dodge answering; they get to call you on it. In what way, precisely, do you find this unfair...?
