Resignation comes as city settles suit over her 'hate group' comments.

The Fresno Human Relations Commission chairwoman who called a local conservative organization a "hate group" resigned as the city reached a lawsuit settlement over her comments.

Debbie Reyes announced her resignation through an e-mail that was read Thursday evening at the commission meeting.

Here's the thread that started this whole dang mess. Someone started posting on the imc's and on some infoshop websites (which are the domain of anarchists and socialists who are organizing the anti-war protest across the country) invitations to come to our picnic and disrupt things. Lots of words were exchanged on those sites, but who posted those comments, no one knows, they have anonymous posting. That gave PeaceFresno the nerve to try to use their influence at city hall to shut us down.

Actually, she read about the 'career opportunity' in the want ads; and it will take a great deal of her time and attention to just get her application in and even more of her time, praying for a response.

It is not that the 'truth escapes' them; these people of the lie, live determinedly to escape the truth.

Hence even the coincidental timing of this judgment coinciding with the departure of Debbie Reyes for a new career opportunity. . .

Better for them; a 'little lie' rather than acknowledging even a 'simple truth'.

I lived in Fresno until May 2001, talked to Mayor Autry at Bally's Fitness a few times while working out, he related his Lemoore Naval Air Station connections (from where I retired USN) while he lived in Riverdale, just up HWY 41. Also saw him often at World Sports Cafe (yes, where Scott Peterson met Amber Frey) with his family (VERY, VERY hot wife!).
Super nice guy. The first time I saw him at the Sports Cafe, he remembered me from the gym and treated me like I was a long-time friend. Good Republican mayor.

He seems like a very down to earth type person. Easy to talk to and just a good old boy.

As you saw, he went to high school in Riverdale. He is a lot younger than I am, but I went to HS in Caruthers. Big rivalry for many years ..... Caruthers and Riverdale.

His statements to the media when this HRC thing happened in September were great. At least we didn't feel like the entire City of Fresno opposed us and our military.
