the first question to ask is, 'how does this affect my salvation?' - whether there is life or was life or will be life anywhere but earth is up to God... the Bible never says that life is restricted to the earth, but by the same token our concern is how we treat and serve the other people on earth and there is no reason to treat martians any differently, even if they DO mean us harm ... i see by your reference to gen 6 that you might be concerned about the 'sons of God' who came to marry the women on Earth. The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod recognizes the 'sons of God' as leaders/kings (or even religious leaders) ...anyway, perhaps God destroyed life on Mars and sent martian survivors to Earth... He did the same thing here on earth re:Noah ... hope this helps

I'm a libertarian (in philosophy anyway) too, and here's my take. Space exploration has more to do with 'providing for the common defense' than anything else.

The search for life or whatever is just PR by the goofy Sci-Fi readers, the NASA guys who fantasize about finding aliens and stuff. But we have to let them have their hobby because they are the ones who make these things fly.
