46% of Hispanics voted to recall Davis in California. The liberal whiner press called it the "end of the latino vote". True, but I can't help but wonder if that additional 6% wasn't hoping to elect the MenCha candidate instead.

Even when the great odds are generated by a public's intense distaste for disregarding the law - just like Clinton used to do?

Aside from all the details, if I knew that President Bush would prosecute employers who hire illegals and would drop those same illegals off nearthe Guatemalan border when found, I would be inclined to support him here Even if Bush wanted to really do this, he couldn't do it. About four years ago, here in Az, the police starting cracking down on the Mexican's hanging around the streets, etc. The ACLU, the local media, etc. were all over it like white on rice. They had to stop. Why would it be any different in this regard?

That's true. He'll win 35 states, at least. A. The hatred (a serious, visceral, hatred) from the left for bush has INCREASED since his election and continues to do so.
B. He's backstabbed his base on so many issues, the latest being immigrtaion, he's lost a significant portion of that base.
Where are your votes going to come from?

Well .. I've seen interviews on TV .. young people who openly state they will not take those low wage jobs.
You should be happy to know that Sheila Jackson Lee agrees with you.

paying them less than a livable wage simply because they are desperate? Neither bondage nor indentured servitude. More of another union hall in competition with your union. This might be considered an attack on unions, but not implementation of slavery.

He also said that workers who violate the law will be returned to their home country and will never be permitted to re-enter.And of course we're gonna close, lock and mine the border to ensure this, right?

Exactly the way the immigration law is currently written, you know, exactly what is being ignored. You forgot to mention how you would enforce it. Who would you use to enforce it? The already overworked law enforcement who get paid shit already? The already stretched military who get paid shit already? Would you volunteer to do it yourself?
To: rintense
Legal of course. My point is that I welcome all foreign workers (legal).
And one more thing that I think folks are doing here which is not right.
Everyone seems to equate foreign workers with social welfare...which to me is nonsense...
Social welfare is the result of liberals and their socialist policies....
Hard working folk from Mexico or anywhere else for that matter are welcome in my book...
Liberals are the disease...not the Hispanic fellow who bust his tail day in and day out to feed his family. Most of the Hispanics I have come across are a god fearing people, who love their families and will work two jobs a day without hesitation. They don't work two jobs a day cause they get paid dirt wages either. Its just the way they are. They love to work, and they love their families.

Please cite CATO's thinking on this policy. Thanks. Reference, as requested.
Thank you for toning it down some. Folks of a Conservative bent will have disagreements -- how we settle those differences displays character which liberals lack.

My husband grew up in Aptos and Los Gatos in the 60's. I live in Sac area but visit Salinas, Monterey and Santa Cruz often. :o)

That the feds will round up millions of illegals who don't have steady jobs?Yeah, I do believe it. This is POST 9-11, the world is different. I think they will heavily enforce these laws because it's too dangerous not to know who is or is not in this country.

make it unlawful to hire, refer, or recruit for a fee an alien not authorized to work
So the punishment for hiring these people all these years is Bush's amnesty plan. Thats a great penalty for employers for unlawfully hiring people isn't it?
The jokes on the American citizen. We pay congress to make laws, they ignore the laws then give away the store to the employers breaking the law we paid them to write.

Do you really think the [Mexican]
people could do anything to help themselves when these so called [Mexican]
police are traveling around in pickups with rifles trained on them all of the time? Too bad those Mexican police aren't as concerned with keeping Mexicans inside Mexico.
To: No More Gore Anymore
He seems to be begging for a Conservative Third Party candidate this year. CFR, Prescription Drugs, this montrosity... After just hearing our governor Rod Blagojevich(D-IL) (and not only a (D) but a bleeding heart Daley machine liberal) over the radio praising the presidents immigration plan, it kind of makes you wonder.

Cleaning offices or picking fruit is an important job. I never said that those jobs wre too unimportant for American workers...what I was responding to was your comment:
Pal, if someone offered me enough dough to pick their fruit, I'd chuck this keyboard and put on my overalls.
I responded..
Sure you would..and so would most welfare workers...if they were 'offered enough dough'.
What is your problem??

I'm glad you brought up unions. They are probably to blame for a lot of this.

I don't firgure this will get one extra Hispanic vote - it's not about that. It's better for America. You got that right! The dems have most of that vote sewed up tight with their scare tactics.
