Yes there is but don't expect the naysayers to notice. There are reasons this problem is never addressed seriously and they are economic. And one can blame employers for low wages but these same people would be screaming if they saw those wages translated to higher prices for fruits, vegetables, etc.I strongly disagree with that. I think of Americans would be willing to pay a little more for fruits and vegetables in exchange for knowing that their status as Americans means something special. A lot of us are proud to be Americans and believe that we have something worth preserving here.
I don't know many Americans who want to exchange the integrity of this country's legal system, culture and sovereignty for cheaper vegetables.

Uh could you please show me where Americans are going to Mexico and buying slaves? Sheesh they want to work here, maybe instead of incessant bitching you could try to export the free market ideal to Mexico. I doubt it. They don't want to starve. Show me their options. Companies are taking advantage of their situation, and the Mexico gov't is pawning off a problem.
It's time for Americans to labor for themselves or pay a fair wage to others. Then you will see our own unemployed interested in the jobs and Mexican imigrants can continue to come the legal route.

I just got back from the great state of Michigan (even though the governor gives me the creeps) - and just love being in Grand Rapids for the holidays.
That said, I would like to respond to your 3 interesting points.
Jobs. We're losing jobs, and there are only so many to go around. Depresses wages, taking jobs away from Americans and legal immigrants
Jobs are created by economic policies that allow entrepreneurs to create them...not immigrants legal or otherwise. The economic pie and its accompanying employment is not limited by increasing population but is in fact the result of it. Immigrants create and have always created jobs whether legal or otherwise. We are all the descendants of immigrants who respect economic growth and the improvement in the quality of life that results.
Finally your comment about the Detroit area is interesting because that is one aspect of all this that I would take the hard line on. All the Lackawanna Six (AL Quaeda trained terrorists) were citizens and legally here and most were born here! Muslims of any stripe (ethnic background) need to be investigated and monitored. I could care less if they are citizens or not. If their mosques spread evil talk about jihad and talk about evil Americans and a future of an Islamic world empire, they are being traitorous and should be rounded up and jailed.

yeah, what the heck was THAT all about? Think the guy's been booted.

Yes it is very easy to bond with those that are distressed. Our charitable natures want to reach out and help.
Unfortunately I saw some years ago in the university where I worked of what happens when these distressed individuals get power. Some will remain grateful, others will stpe all over those that helped them.
That's human nature. But the problem is not confined to a few thousand cases. This problem is in the tens of millions and those numbers spell political power.
Now I have no hesitation voting for anyone that may be black, hispanic, Jweish, Catholic, Hindu, even Iraqi AS LONG AS I CAN TRUST THEM. But when large groups of people break the law, hide their crime and never show any gratitude for the help they receive, how can I vote for thier leader?
They are not here for liberty, they are here for the blessings of liberty. They are here to take the fruits that we produced with our liberty. And there are more than ten million of them!

I thinks some folks are insensitive to being able to handle the heated banter of certain threads, and I resent having to put the lid down for them. (in other words some folks need tougher skin if they are going to run with the pack and excessive modification of our speech is just a "dumbing us down to the lowest common demoninator")
I am going to publically say, you are impressing the hell out of me today. You may now resume your normal activities.
To: KantianBurke
Well, you jumped from point a to point z in a flash. You knew full well that I was referring to your rape statement and not to abortion because it is not a crime today to have an abortion. I agree that abortion is a national shame but we would be far better off educating against it instead of criminalizeing it...same is true of the amnesty issue in my opinion.

Don't forget, Bush also signed the Farm Bill, a legislative monstrosity of epic proportions.Exactly right.
But it pales when placed next to his two worst moments - Campaign Finance and now this. The Farm Bill was only about money, greed and votes. The other two are about survival as a free and Constitutional Republic!

Type "summit of the Americas" in your favorite search engine. Go to the official page and read the policy that is being developed there.
Mr. Bush will speak at the next summit, which is next week in Monterrey Mexico. He will be able to report that he has begun implementation of their 1998 summit policy on migrants. The globalists that run the summit will be very happy to hear his remarks.
It was also in Monterrey Mexico that Bush announced the creation of the Millenium Challenge fund, a wealth redistribution plan (of our tax money) for "least developed countries". You will notice that he did not announce this plan to the American people before going to Mexico and announcing it there.
Watch the Summit of the Americas. Read the text of Bush's speeches while he is there and you will be very shocked at his "split personality". What he tells the American people and what he announces at these global summits are two very different things. This might help give you some insights into his seemingly inexplicable behavior toward immmiagration and the will of the American people.
To: Hildy
"Unfortunately, it is true...about the jobs. But this proposal makes companies prove that they can't find Americans to do those jobs. Is that ok to you?"
There is no such thing. To re phrase...They have to prove that they can't find Americans to do the job for Minimum wage or less.

That was my "rape statement", not KB's .... and while we're on the topic, why don't we merely "educate against it" instead of criminalizing it?

"Choosing between Howard Dean and George W. Bush to be President is like choosing between Jeffrey Dahmer and Michael Jackson to babysit your children. Yeah, the better choice is obvious, but you'd be a fool to be happy about it." Or not to at least make a break for the nearest exit.
Funny analogy.

yeah, what the heck was THAT all about? Think the guy's been booted. Beats me. Someone really peed in his Wheaties today, I reckon. You are correct, he appears to be gone - at least for now. I have this mental image of a Moderator-With-No-Name twirling a smoking single-action Colt and dropping it neatly into a hand-tooled leather holster. Quick on the draw!! :-)

To: MissAmericanPie
You want reality? I wonder. The entire agenda is to get illegals into American voting booths. That's the reality.
That would be the DEMOCRAT agenda.
You want to compete with the Democrats in an election when they have 12 million more illegals to stack the deck with?
No, the idea is to begin nudging the 12 million illegals into legalizing their status in one way or another. Among other positive benefits doing so reduces the incentive to participate in illegal voting for Democrats. So long as conservatives and Republicans propose to keep them illegal and try to round them up, the logical response would be to help liberals and Democrats steal more elections by voting illegally. After all what are you proposing we do if we catch them at it? Deport them twice?
To: ShadowDancer
LOL, Damn, I don't what's happened to me. Must be the Kool-Aid. :-)
