Both are violating the law. Both should be punished. Bush's plan rewards both. The documented temporary worker would not longer be breaking the law because he would no longer be an illegal immigrant so both would no longer be violating the law as you claim. And saying that Bush is "rewarding" law breakers is a big stretch on your part, I think.

NO worries. :-)

How about if we decide to begin prosecuting and punishing the Americans who are paying them to come here and paying them to stay here? So you're talking about prosecuting 3-4 million employers. Good luck.

I said, "I hate bigotry."
I meant just that.
I also said in all of its forms. I would include intellectual bigotry as well.
To: yatros from flatwater
I see. The headline uses illegals. The article undocumentos.
To: Texaggie79
All there is is crap jobs though. Everyone has to be cheap and hire only illegals and salaries haven't gone up since the 1920s. While the cost of housing has.

Some have risked their lives in dangerous desert border crossings or entrusted their lives to the brutal rings of heartless human smugglers.

Since I consider you one of the "regular" Freepers, and in that definition, one of the more informed, intelligent opinion givers, maybe you can help me.
Am looking thru this strange thread for info and opinions of this immigration issue, a sort of compilation of whether this is good or bad about what GW has issued, but want only Freepers opinions who have been here awhile, as I don't "know" the new posters to value their opinions or not.
Can you help?
Or know where some of the regulars are hanging to discuss this issue? Thanks

The documented temporary worker would not longer be breaking the law because he would no longer be an illegal immigrant Apply this to legalization of any other crime. Rape, for example. Or tax evasion.
Feel dumb yet?

No, he was not here legally. I thought I said that in my post, sorry if I didn't. I didn't say he deserved to be here, I said he was out there with us proudly waving the flag and thankful to be here. He was trying to get a green card however. I don't know if he ever did, but he was a very nice guy.
I did know very well a guy from a communist country, who came here on a visa, then didn't go home. He tried everything to get a green card, and could not. A harder worker you couldn't find, but this was in the 90's and no way would they grant him the right to stay. I see your point, but I guess I feel sorry for those who come from countries that are so depressed when they become real people to me, rather than just statistics. To be honest, I wish they would close the borders for awhile! I have very mixed feelings about this, obviously! :-)

Your LA list signifies nothing except there are many Latinos living in the LA area. No, the list clearly demonstrates that hispanics are WAY over represented in the "Most Wanted" list. Before the huge wave of illegals this was not the case. People who have no hesitation to break our laws to come here have no hesitation to break other laws as well.
Shopping carts in Houston are almost universally fitted with trick wheels to make them hard to push when taken outside the parking lot. Problem is, it often makes them hard to push when inside the store. Unfortunately they've had to do that, as ILLEGAL ALIENS have no qualms about taking a $400 shopping cart and pushing it to their homes.
These are the types of folks you want us to pander to. I ain't buyin' it.

A one issue voter, huh?
Let me know when you find your ideal candidate that a majority of Americans will vote for.

There is NO amnisty here.¿Qué? Do you even know what an amnesty is? "An act of pardon by a legislative authority which effaces a punishment."
Illegals are here because they broke our immigration laws. That's where the term "illegal" comes from, in case you're wondering. People who break laws are criminals. Criminals are normally subject to punishment. But not in this case because George Bush is granting to these criminals not the deportation they deserve, but rather legal status.
How can you say this is not an amnesty? Is any illegal going to be punished in any way for having violated U.S. immigration laws?

The documented temporary worker would not longer be breaking the law because he would no longer be an illegal immigrant Am going to request that you repeat the above statement just so later on no one can claim you've been misquoted or have had such a quote "taken out of context."
