According to Sid Rosenburg, the Sports guy on the Imus in the Morning program, the Redskins are set to make an announcement today that the former Redskins Coach will be returning to be the new head coach.

Just a week after Steve Spurrier called it quits, the Washington Redskins have a new coach – their old one. Joe Gibbs agreed Wednesday to take charge of the struggling franchise. Gibbs coached the team from 1981-92, winning three Super Bowls along the way before resigning to pursue a career with his own NASCAR team. [link to source]

Y'know, talking about Jacoby, this'll tell you how much football has changed in just fifteen years.

Joe Jacoby was 6'6", 305 pounds. Every play-by-play and color commentator mentioned what a monster he was, with his size. He was, I believe, the only Hog that ever went 300+ on the scale.

Nowadays, 6'6" and 305 would be an average, or even smaller, offensive tackle on most teams. And that 305+ pound tackle would be faster and more mobile than Jacoby ever was.

A 305-pound lineman has gone from freakishly big to "eh, he's not so huge" in just 15 years! Amazing!

LOL!! You say that the "rot goes back decades." All but five of the names you give me played in the last ten years, long after Landry was gone. Of the five who played under Landry, three "violations" occurred after they left the team.

I'm not about to defend the Cowboys under Jerry Jones. He allowed clowns such as Switzer and Campo to tolerate outright criminals like Erik Williams.

But let's can the hyperbole on the Landry era.
