According to a recent article in the Washington Times, a high school student in California who recently founded the 50-member "Conservative Club" at his school, is under attack by the school's liberal faculty and administration, as well as student body members.
The student, Tim Bueler, "said he had received threats from other students after writing an article for the club newsletter calling for a crackdown on illegal immigration."
What was the school administration's response? "His principal and a campus police officer suggested that he stay home from his California high school for a few days."
Bueler says his club's staunch conservative views (the club has hosted speakers from groups like Eagle Forum and the National Rifle Association) inspired threats from which teachers have refused to protect him. He also reports that faculty members stand by and do nothing to help him when these threats occur.
Some FACULTY members even started a public campaign against his group; one teacher called Tim "a Nazi," while another described the club as "a bunch of bigots." In a parody of the club's newsletter, biology teacher Mark Alton called on students to "take a stand against the neoconservative wing- nuts who call themselves Americans."
Forty school staff members signed a letter, co-authored by Alton, to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat newspaper opposing Bueler's group's conservative statements; Alton (a TEACHER) stated, "What bothers me is the extreme views that border on racism or homophobia." This, about a club that includes membership of female students and Latinos and other minorities.
Well, so much for free speech in American high schools -- at least, if you're conservative. We need to STAND UP for these brave, patriotic students -- and we've set up a way to do just that.
Things have gotten so bad that Bueler's Conservative Club has invited students to call its "liberal assault hot line" to report whether they've been "verbally assaulted for being conservative." Bueler even thought about taking his principal's advice and leaving the school, but decided to take a stand and say, "No way." He says his inspiration to uphold American ideals comes from his late grandfather, Mark Bueler, a Pearl Harbor survivor and lifelong patriot.
We need to join him in his stance. Go to our site below to send a message to Rancho Cotate Principal Mitchell Carter, asking him to tell the teachers at his school to stop harassing Tim Bueler for his conservative beliefs, and to protect his right to express those beliefs - including the protection of his physical person:

The "party of tolerance" is not tolerant at all of those with conservative ideas. All deviants, however, are tolerated quite handily.

I'm sure the ACLU will be on the case soon. After all, they're the protectors of free speech. Aren't they?

so if i get this right if you bring in a plastic green army man to school you get expelled and arrested for violating the zero tolerance policy against guns even though a plastic green army man holding a microscopic plastic gun cannaot harm anyone but if you actually threaten to beat up someone there is nothing the teacher or principle can do ?

The same principal hangs a Mexican flag in his office instead of an Amercian flag, although he's not mexican.

Seeing this on the Breaking News sidebar, all in CAPS, I thought he was literally being physically attacked..I suspect there is the distinct possibility.

Alton (a TEACHER) stated, "What bothers me is the extreme views that border on racism or homophobia." What bothers me is the extreme hysteria fostered by Conservaphobic left-wing wacko teachers.

The actions of the faculty listed here are easily construed as deliberately creating a hostile educational enviroment
think their own separate conservative highschool where they won't be subject to the abuse of teachers and less enlightened students.

There's a bit more to this story. The sub host for either Glenn Beck or Rush got a call a few days ago from the teacher sponsor (who resigned as sponsor) of the student paper. She made a couple of interesting points. First, she said that the student has many supporters, both students and teachers at the school. Second, she said she is herself a conservative and supports the paper, but resigned out of principle because this young man and his parents had an agreement that all content would be reviewed by her, the sponsor, before being printed.

I thought he was literally being physically attacked right now. This is worse, because those in authority and teachers are attacking students who appear to stand on the very values this country was founded on. They should be teaching those values, not attacking them. This is shameful - and your response is quite inappropriate!
To: JesseHousman
Not surprising.
Of course he would face attacks by many uber liberal GOPers here as well!
