NASHUA, N.H. -- Democratic presidential hopeful Howard Dean on Friday cited the higher terror alert and the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq in arguing that he was right to say Saddam Hussein's capture didn't make America safer.

"They got all excited, but here we are," Dean told a town-hall meeting. "We've lost 10 more troops and F-16s are escorting foreign passenger jets into our air space because we're now more worried than we were before."

The British military has reported 52 deaths; Italy, 17; Spain, eight; Bulgaria, five; Thailand, two; Denmark, Ukraine and Poland have reported one each.

Nope, can't possibly be. Bush acted unilaterally, remember? It's been all over the media, I'm sure you've read it....

Dean was probably correct in the narrow sense that capturing Saddam didn't make us safer.

No doubt. It would have been a long shot from his spider-hole in Tikrit to America with an AK-47. Howie nailed that one!

Dean will get the Islamist vote..

And if current (and projected) demographics are any indication, it's not an insignificant segment. .....especially if one includes Islamist sympathizers.

Dean is insulting to all that is American.

The percentage of those who will vote for him will be the measure of betrayal from within our lands.

Hot & cold running squirrel vomit for brains...and he wants to be president.

With that and a willingness to continue the trend of crapping on the Constitution, I would say he meets the minimum standards for that office, wouldn't you??

Dean fails Logic 101. Imagine for a moment that we eliminated all drunk driving deaths. Then, Dean claims: "We are not any safer. People are still dying from cancer and homicide!". While removing one threat does not eradicate each and every threat facing the American people, we are still better off for removing one of these threats. Saddam and his Ba'athist party will never return to power and threaten the American or Iraqi people. Toppling Saddam made the American people safe from a rogue nation that has collaborated with terrorists such as Al Queda and KADEK. Capturing Saddam was a victory for the Iraqi people who will see the man who tortured and terrorized them finally see justice.

Dean, in 1942, would have said we were losing and not safer.

Democrats are worse than broken records.

I think an effective tag for Dean is APOLOGIST. Howard Dean is an apologist for Osama Bin Laden- claiming that neither death sentence nor life in prison was appropriate because Osama may have done nothing wrong. Dean has also played apologist for a vicious dictator in opposing the US effort to topple Saddam Hussein. Later he told the international community that Saddam's capture served no beneficial purpose, ignoring the right of the Iraqi people to ensure their tormentor of 20 years sees justice and ignoring Hussein's threat to Israel, Kuwait, Saudia Arabia, Turkey (through KADEK terrorists), and the United States.

Dean is an apologist for terrorists and dictators of rogue states.

Candidate Simpleton doesn't realize (or at least is shamming the public in saying this) that Saddam Hussein is one evil man but not the only evil man in the world. Qadaffi has seen the writing on the wall and is ending his own WMD program. That alone makes the world a safer place. Not an "airtight safe place" but safer.

There were those in Iraq who sought to bring Saddam back to power, that day will never come now. There were also those in Iraq who were afraid to come forward or show support for the US because of fear that Saddam's regime would torture or kill them. America and Iraq are both safer places today because of Saddam's capture.

So, Howie, what's the freaking alternative? Bend over and take it with a smile?

Good grief, not only is this guy arrogant and condescending, he's also not fit to be in government. It's all about him, NOT the people he's supposed to serve.

Dean Cites Terror Alert As Vindication

Friday January 2, 2004 9:16 PM

By HOLLY RAMER

Associated Press Writer

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - Democratic presidential hopeful Howard Dean on Friday cited the higher terror alert and the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq in arguing that he was right to say Saddam Hussein's capture didn't make America safer.

``They got all excited, but here we are,'' Dean told a town-hall meeting. ``We've lost 10 more troops and F-16s are escorting foreign passenger jets into our air space because we're now more worried than we were before.''

Last month, Dean's rivals assailed the front-runner when he said within a day of the Iraqi leader's capture that his apprehension had not made the United States safer, a direct contradiction of President Bush.

Since then, the national terrorism alert has been raised to orange and U.S. troops have been killed in Iraq.

``I can assure you it's not Saddam who's threatening to bomb airplanes,'' Dean said. ``It's al-Qaida. We've not paid attention to al-Qaida. We've spent $160 billion, lost over 400 servicemen, and wounded and permanently maimed over 2,000 people because we picked the wrong target.''

Dean said even though he opposed the Iraq war, his greatest fear now is that ``this administration will pull out of Iraq too early for political reasons,'' Dean said.

If that happens, al-Qaida will move into Iraq and become more powerful than ever.

``My fear is that the (Karl) Rove polls will tell him (Bush), 'You've gotta get out, you've gotta get out,' and he'll start doing that,'' Dean said, referring to Bush's chief political adviser.

Wrong President, Howie. Clinton governed by poll, not Bush..
