JUSTICE LEAGUE
Posted on 01/02/2004 8:21:58 AM PST by 7thson
I thought I would create a harmless post and ask if any of you watch Justice League on the Cartoon Channel? I usually watch it with my grandsons. Last nights episode dealt with the villians using mind control to manipulate the heros feelings towards one another, causing the JL to break up. As usual, as the end, the heroes unite and kick arse. I like a couple things about the episode. At the end, one of the villians goes to punch Batman when Superman appears and stops him. After Batman ties up the villian he begins to say that he did not need any help when Superman looks at him and demands "What!" Batman bites his tongue and says thank you. Then at the end when the Flash tries to rationlize that the things they said to and about each other was under mind control, Jonn Jonz makes the point of saying that every statement was meant. The look on Flash's face, the way it was drawn, the depressed slump of the shoulders - I thought the entire story was emphasized with that ending.

Outof the animated series, my favorite JL characters are Batman (because of his ability to not compromise evil), Superman (in today's modern mythology, he fits well with the Greek Gods of myth), and HawkGirl (because she kicks arse). Her personality is a mixture of Batmans and Flash. She sees evil and knows what to do about it - kick their butt! However, she is impetuous like the Flash and does not take the time to think out her actions. I am not a big fan of Wonder Woman though the episode involving their rematch with Vandal Savaae was good.

the homosexual characters are just the continued recruiting of children for homosexual fodder.
All lines of comic books have to "reboot" ever so often. They reboot clark kent's life every ten years or so. It is just too hard to keep fitting WWII into his boyhood.
The comics code authority used to have the notion that children were reading these comic books and would stop the use of homosexuals to propagandize their deviance to children. Now they have wimped out.

I liked that episode as well, and the scene of Hawkgirl crying almost made me cry. That whole scene when Grundy asks about his soul waiting for him, and Hawkgirl at first hesitates then tells him yes, it was so touching. Everyone hear said at the same time "Hawkgirl just cried!"

The series as a whole is written very good. The firt episode of the 2nd season where Batman and Superman refer to each other by their real names, Kent and Bruce, was very well written. I hope this series continues for some time to come.

Oh no, I just like a girl who can kick butt, but have feelings as well. She can go from a Hulk-type mentality to one of a love-sick romantic in a heartbeat. I like that.

Do you have this ability on your own or do you require maximum levels of alcohol to achieve this. 8-)

You probably saw seanon one on Toonami. Season one and two are running unedited on Adultswim (12:30pm on CN, but check your listings.)
Season two was fantastic but like season one it left more questions than answers.

See... Wonder Woman's magic lasso has to be the lamest super-device in all of history. It makes you *tell the truth*. Whoop-di-doo. Any smart criminal can overcome this power by simply applying Clintonian evasion techniques.
Wonder Woman: Tell me where the hostages are!
Villian: Darn it, Wonder Woman, you sure look sexy in that outfit - and that's THE TRUTH!
Wonder Woman: TELL ME WHERE THE HOSTAGES ARE!
Villian: OK, OK. The truth is... I wanna sleep with you, Wonder Woman!
Wonder Woman: Grrrrrr. Stupid lasso.

Hey, she can do the lasso trick on me all she wants. Then I can use my super powers on her to get her into bed.

Yeah I hear ya. If only they made a machine that would record tv shows on a compact, easily transportable media, like a cassette.
You'd program the machine to turn and record the show and later you view that recording. Oh well, maybe someday.

I have a VCR, but I can't seem to get the tapes to work with my car stereo. Besides, how would I get to watch the action?
