The reporter just had to dig at President Bush, even while writing an article about dieting!

That's funny, I thought only Clinton's interns had a high protein diet. . .

"Just as George Dubya oversimplified global conflict by divvying up the atlas between Good Guys (Americans) and Bad Guys (Arabs), so Dr Agatston divides food groups with the latest buzzwords of the world's diet tribes: The Glycaemic Index."

Is this a diet article or political opinion, which by the way, I agree with Dubya.

You have to admit, any diet Clinton could stay on must require no self-control whatsoever. He didn't have enough self-control to preserve the shreds of his legacy.

Are they trying to say that the Clinton's are on this diet? If so, well, excuse me, but is this intended to make a person blow up like a balloon? No offense meant, (hee hee) but have you seen pictures of those two lately?

MOST of the pipple on Atkins really-ize that it's a life-changing, lifetime way of addressing your food intake. South Beachers, OTOH, will likely be those attracted to fads or who've poo-pooed Atkins before and now that it's been proven to work, they don't want to admit they're wrong so they go for Atkins in the South-Beach packaging.

So far, I haven't seen 5 grams worth of diff between the two plans, except one sounds sexy and the other doesn't.

Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barbra Streisand, Oprah Winfrey and Donna Karan

Have you seen any of these people lately? I want to eat the opposite of what they are having.

My husband bought me the South Beach Diet book because I was complaining about not having orange juice on Atkins.

I read the first two chapters, and pitched it, because he misinterpreted the Atkins as all protein, no carbs.

Plus, he spent a lot of time talking about how we shouldn't eat red meat too much.

I am going on the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet next week, which is Atkins induction two times a day, and eat whatever you want at dinner, as long as you eat within an hour. I lost weight on this one before, lost weight on Atkins, and think this is the best solution for me.

Explain that diet routine again. Eat every hour and lose weight?...sounds like something I could do.

Just as long as I don't have to give up bacon and eggs for breakfast.

What did you mean by eat within an hour?

The powerful Democratic troika Barbra Streisand, Oprah Winfrey and Donna Karan are all said to subscribe.

I had heard years ago that there was a special Oprah diet. It went like this: You go out to dinner with Oprah and eat only whatever she leaves on her plate.

I understand the pounds would melt away.

Don't take more than one hour to eat the meal...?

"That's funny, I thought only Clinton's interns had a high protein diet. . ."

Was that really necessary?

Well, yes it was, but now you owe me one 17" flat screen monitor and one wireless keyboard. Vodka is not good for your computer. LOL!

Just as long as I don't have to give up bacon and eggs for breakfast.

You don't. I've been doing SouthBeach for a few months. Have gotten off of 2 diabetes meds and lost 12 lbs. I have a thyroid condition (a real one, for which I take meds) that makes it harder to lose weight, but it is coming off slowly. My endo knows what I'm doing and approves.

To me, the difference between the SouthBeach and Atkins is that you do watch fats in foods (chicken, lean beef), there is some portion control, but not much when it comes to vegies, and you get vegies and beans from the begining. I enjoy a nice steak several times a week, w/a mound o'vegetables.

I eat eggs (or egg substitute, just cause it's faster than dealing w/eggs), saussage or bacon. I eat beans, which I love. I eat a lot of vegies - nice hearty ones, not just iceberg lettace salads. I'm at the point on the diet where I can have yogurt or soy milk (lactose issues) each day as well. You can eat a fair amount of fruit, but I don't, since many fruits raise your blood sugar to much, too fast.

My 26 yr old son eats the same thing, only I give him some brown rice or a potato now and then 'cause he's very active & doesn't have a weight problem.

I like the plan, but to each his own. I tried the Zone, which didn't change my blood sugar, nor did I lose wieght, I had reduced blood sugar right away w/SouthBeach and have lost weight.
