[history]
An Indianapolis family kept vigil Tuesday awaiting news of two brothers they say are wrongly being held in the Philippines for suspected ties to terrorists.
"This is like a (bad) dream," said Pamela Stubbs Thornton, a sister of the detained men, Michael Ray Stubbs and Jamil Daud Mujahid.

I didn't get to read your post yesterday. I was babysitting and on my son's computer, which is hard for me to navigate, so I only read a few threads.
I note that the relatives say that he joined the Black Panthers when he became disillusioned with the US after Viet Nam. Earlier in the article it says he joined while in Indianapolis, which was when he was a teenager.
I find that confusing. Also, if he helped the FBI with the New York Panther investigation, he must have known a little bit about how they were organized.
I still like the cell phone comment. I hope that they all are calling eveyone they can think of to help them, including some jihadist buddies.

The men were born in Missouri, but their family moved to Indianapolis in the 1960s during their teen years. These two have quite the checkered past. I wonder how they afford their pricey trips to the Philippines?

"These two have quite the checkered past. I wonder how they afford their pricey trips to the Philippines?"
That is a great question.
Maybe funds from the Opecker Thugs to finance the NOI, which in turn financed them.
Maybe one of George $oreA$$'s fronts like America Coming Together?
Maybe the DNC? Naah, they only take money from the Opecker Thugs and $oreA$$ and spend it.

Well, something triggered the Navy's CSI to do an investigation on these two fine examples of the Nation of Islam and the Black Panthers, $inator Hildebea$t's long time buddies.

Wasn't one of the members of the Portland AQ cell also a former Black Panther?

Thanks for the article. I'm still trying to recall where I remember
the name from myself. This might help.
Perhaps...
New Black Panthers of a Different StripeNow a fixture on the speaker circuit, Black Panther Party co-founder Bobby Seale is accusing the New Black Panthers of sullying the original group's reputation by showing up heavily armed at demonstrations and preaching violent, racist and extremist views on its Web site.
"This new group has a bunch of xenophobic, black nationalist rhetoric, which is tantamount to a bunch of racist rhetoric," Seale said.
"Why not call themselves the new black Muslims? They only take our name because of their own personal exploitation, their own economic gain, pure and simple," said former Black Panther Party Chief of Staff David Hilliard.I'm off again for more...

Ahhh, a little more a little closer to home...
New Black Panther Party for Self-DefenseIn June 1998, Muhammad led a group of fifty NBPP followers to Jasper, Texas - including a dozen carrying shotguns and rifles - to "protect" the streets in the wake of the racial murder of James Byrd Jr. Byrd, a forty-nine-year-old African American, who was beaten and fatally dragged behind a pickup truck down a rural road by three white supremacists. In response to a rally organized by Klansmen in the small town two weeks later, Muhammad and his followers, many wearing black berets like the original Panthers, showed up to counter demonstrate. When members of the NBPP tried and failed to get past police separating them from the Klan, Muhammad told his cadre, "Black people, we can take these bastards
We can run over the damn police and take their ass. Who's with me?" There were several minor scuffles between supporters on both sides and two arrests were made.Big stuff around these parts. I doubt their Islamic roots were widely known. The event was touted as mainly just a "Black Panther" event.
Armed militants march through Jasper
The arrival of the group, which calls itself a new version of the Black Panthers, was prompted by the slaying of James Byrd Jr., who was chained to a pickup and dragged to death last Sunday.
Snip..."Everybody under the sound of my voice knows it was a hate crime," said Khallid Abdul Muhammed, a former Nation of Islam minister.
With that name though it's knid of hard to miss the Islamic factor.

Some related material...
Two suspected members of terror network nabbedThe bureau's intelligence chief, Faisal Hussein, identified the suspects as James Stubbs Jr., who is also known as Jamil Daoud Mujahid, and his brother Michael Ray Stubbs.
Sketchy reports said the two were arrested by a group of immigration and naval intelligence agents in an operation in the town of Tanza in Cavite province, outside Manila, last Dec. 13. They were brought to the Bicutan area of Metro Manila for tactical interrogation.
Hussein told reporters that the suspects, both Jordanians, said they were businessmen and denied any link to the Jemaah Islamiyah. Now why were they identified as Jordanians?

Well, my goodness!! Thank you so much for your research efforts!!! I also think this requires further investigation, and will return to this thread either later this evening or tomorrow.
Again, thank you. I had missed part of this story the last two days because of babysitting commitments, and am just now catching up on it and its connection to my hometown.

My pleasure. I still haven't remembered why the Stubbs name sparked my memory. I'm busy on 7-12s so I've little time or brain cells to spare right now.
