If a returning banned user comes back, he's going to be nuked, not just rebanned. Otherwise, he has a reason to keep coming back.

While that's a vailid point, on the other hand, there are occasions where returnees have started legitimate threads (standing alone), and posters who were unaware of the shenanigans have put time and effort into posts on those threads. If the thread goes, so do the innocent posts.

I actually recall instances like this, on a few occasions, where the AM has restored threads on a case by case basis, though I can't recall if the returnee's posts remained deleted.
