Nope. We supported the Afghan rebels, not the mujahideen whom UBL imported. He got financing for his "Afghan Arabs" from, among others, the Saudis and other likeminded islamists.
And Dean is a total idiot who the ever PC pandering Democrats and their media lackeys richly deserve. He's their Frankenstein's monster of their own creation, not ours, but it will be a hell of a lot of fun over the next few months watching them try to destroy him. Limousine peasants from throughout the Liberal village will take up their torches and pitchforks to kill their own creation.
Funny, I said almost the same thing on another thread a couple of days ago. He is hand-made for the Republicans. If he's not a plant, it works for me!!! :)
Go Doc, and look out for The Beast and The Bent One!
Yes. This site is a force in politics regardless of how others might view it. This site is a running diary of conservative thought. If I were a congressman or senator- or President, I would check into this site religiously to find out how things that came from the Hill play in the electorate. You find such a wide view here of conservative opinions- how could one ignore it?
And need I say it. I saw it on CNN International in the year 2000, a protest outside the vice-president's residence 'Get out of Cheney's house!' a sign that said 'FreeRepublic.com' Drudge trolls this site for stories. There are thousands of Freepers every day who troll the news sites of the internet to post the latest. As far as a research site- Free Republic cannot be beat. I have done a recent project on Operation Iraqi Freedom as it happened and as the average person perceived it. FR has provided an invaluable resource in seeing how people reacted to the news as it happened and it is like this for every news event. The 9/11 threads are some of the most relevent historical documents that exist concerning that day.
Jim Rob has done an incredible job in my opinion in bringing FR along to the place it occupies today. The software innovations are very good as well as the underlyng philosophy that keeps this site going. Keep up the good work says I!
Well that's comforting to know. Personally, I think the 'on thread' warnings are the best- that way everyone involved knows what's up. But it's good to know the personal warnings are there as well. You never know what's going on with a certain Freeper- but from my own experience, sometimes a 'private word' can be more effective.
Thanks for sharing these insights with us. They are very helpful. I, personally, look on FR as a community. I don't expect to get along with everyone but I do expect there to be a certain amount of cohesion and joint-purpose among members. I like to see the members police themselves and I think for the most part they do. But it is useful sometimes to have these views from the mods as to how the community is ordered in order to be a better member of the community and to know what one is a part of.
Again, thanks ;-)
hehe !
If I got banned... Hmmm. Hard to say. It's never happened. How could one say? I reckon I am conservative. Ergo, I belong here. I am not here to disrupt but to chew on different bones with other conservatives- owing that we all view things in different ways (there is no set conservative view but instead things that a lot of conservatives agree on at any given point in time). It's hard for me to imagine getting banned to tell the truth. If I have disagreements, it falls within the realm of human decency to admit where I am wrong or to at least quit a fight that I see is useless or logically unsound.
But having said all that- people do get banned and sometimes you wonder why this or that person got banned. The longer you are here, the bigger you stake is, personally. If you get banned after two days- so what? But after two years or more, it becomes a different issue. I post every day on FR. I donate. It is a part of my life. So, I think it should be obvious why I would be concerned about my longevity the same as my longevity on this planet is of issue to me.
To a certain extent- the way that long-termers get banned determines the future of the GOP and Conservatives in general in politics. The logic being, the ones that got banned are no longer heard here. The ones that survive are the ones that have a louder voice and hence have a longer impact. This is, I think, the underlying reasoning behind my questions.
But it's not to say that I, personally, am worried about getting banned. It's just an overall concern.
Why you dirty rotten no good bleep bleep bleep you!
RUNNING AWAY FROM THE 'PUTER NOW!!!!! YIPES! (hehe)
Oh yeah... :)
