THE PERSECUTION OF RUSH GOES ON MARK A SITY 12/26/03
Years ago, Brett Favre had a problem with pain killers. He was buying them illegally after a prescription ran out for after an injury that still hurt. He became addicted. After the news came out, he apologized to his fans, went into treatment, and all was right with the world. Not a soul seems to be interested in investigating Ozzy Osbournes drug use, but there might be a reason for this. Ozzy seems to be attempting to prove the theory of evolution by devolving into lower forms of life before our eyes. Ozzie is an interesting scientific experiment.
Yet, Rush Limbaugh is reported to have a problem with an addiction to pain killers, admits it and goes into treatment, and all is still not right with the world. Rumors are reported first that hes part of a drug ring investigation. Ok, it seems this is true in that his name turned up as a customer. Then rumors were reported that he was buying these prescription pain killers in 1000+ lots. Then rumors were reported that he was involved in selling the drugs (like he really needs the money!). Then it was money laundering. Now he is under investigation for the very serious crime of DOCTOR SHOPPING. It seems this is a huge crime in Florida.
This makes me wonder. If I take my family to Florida for a vacation, and our daughter hurts herself, lets say she hurts her leg. Being from Wisconsin we wouldnt know who the good FL doctors are and who the quacks are. Wed probably take her to the closest doctor. So lets say we get Dr Quack. Dr Quack takes her into the X-ray room, and comes out with an X ray showing a hairline fracture in her calf bone. We would assume a leg cast is in order. Dr Quack comes back with not the plaster cart, but a laughing gas cart and then pulls out a big meat saw. Dr Quack tells us he will have to amputate her leg for the hairline fracture. If we decide to take her out of the office (with both legs attached) and look for a second opinion are we in violation of FL law for DOCTOR SHOPPING?
I dont claim to have any inside information on Rushs situation, but drawing on what he has said, it seems that he had a painful back problem and went to Dr Quack. Dr Quack recommended surgery. Dr Quack messed up the surgery. Dr Quack prescribed a pain killer to Rush for temporary relief of a long term problem. Dr Quacks prescription ran out on Rush, leaving him in debilitating pain. Rush knew the pain killer could allow him mobility, and Dr Quack offered no option other than permanent debilitating pain for the rest of his natural life. It seems to me that Rush should have been doctor shopping a long time ago!
Why is Rush on trial here, without even any charges being filed? Shouldnt Dr Quack be the one being investigated for leading an innocent victim down the path of lawlessness and drug use? Where is the AMA? Could it be that they, along with the press have an anti-Rush agenda? Nah, couldnt be. If I believed that Id be one of the black helicopter conspiracy types then, wouldnt I?

Sure is, for now, anyway. Some things are on their way out -- smoking is the most visible casualty. Plenty of others want to tell you what you can read. Do you have any doubt that obese Americans will soon be told, in part at least, what they can eat? Hopefully, Freeping won't run afoul of the new campaign laws like free speech has, but who can say for certain? If the "wrong" people get in charge, you (or your wife/girlfriend) could find your/herself in a burka.
For my part, I prefer to keep government power on the tighest leash. Abuse of power frightens me far more than abuse of drugs.
NOBODY should be surprised about this, especially folks on this website. It should come as no surprise to most anyone that that the left will use any-n-all manner of attack to silence people like Rush, Hannity, Savage, or anyone else who dare speak the truth about the "leftist agenda." That's why it is incumbent upon Rush, Hannity, Savage, et al. NOT to give their detractors any ammo to use against them, and unfortunately, this is precisely what Rush has done.
Speak for yourself, not me. I made no such claims. If I were speeding the law has every right to charge me. And the fact that the LEO or prosecuting attorney might differ from my politics has nothing to do with the charge. If Rush was doctor shopping or buying drugs illegally they have ever right to investigate and/or charge him.
There's is absolutely no evidence to show that the law is being applied subjectively to Rush. All I see is attempts to make sure no evidence is allowed to surface. This "poor victim" BS makes me sick. Whatever happened to "if ya got nothing to hide you shouldn't worry", that's the mantra used for everything else.
This fabricated "fact" of yours is not proven, yet AGAIN you falsly assert it as fact. You don't seem to be capable of learning. Even the simple 2 lines of reasoning you posted is not necessarily true in every case, anyhow.
FACT: Legal authroities believe there is probable cause to investigate Rush and 2 judges have agreed.
The method of getting Rush's records may have violated the 4th amendment, and Florida's right to privacy law. Which is why you are wrong again on your assertion:
The ruling has been either revoked or overturned.
I was thinking you were smart enough to quit making false statements of "fact", but I was so wrong.
Because he "bashed" liberals and druggies? Is barbed humor and sattire really "bashing?" You obviously think it is and have become another "offended victim!"
Judas Priest! I've never seen such a relentless erection on anyone over an allegation!!! Especially on FR!!! Are you envious of his success? Or what???
I hope you'll correct me if I'm mistaken, or have somehow misunderstood your feverish replies on this thread and others, but it sounds to me like nothing would bring you more orgasmic joy than to see the man crucified, literally and figuratively!!!
When I was a young man I developed a pain problem for which no etiology could be determined. I went to see all kinds of specialists (even head-shrinkers), each of whom had his or her own idea of what was causing it but none could cure it.
The pain was severe enough to require mild narcotics (Tylenol#3 and Tylenol#4) and was highly distracting.
Then I came across a neurologist who told me, "You know, I think I know what is causing this. It is a very, very rare neural disorder that causes a pain path to be set up and that path had to be "jumbled" (my term)." He told me that this possibly could be cured by a drug he used often in his practice. He gave me the medication (a non-narcotic used by people who have epilepsy), which in a period of six weeks or so, erased the pain. That was in 1982 and I have been pain-free ever since.
If this had happened in Florida (it didn't), I suppose I would be in jail.
I'm not sure who you are considering as others involved. Certainly the addict's family is involved but I can't support the government legislating that relationship any more than I could them (gov't) setting rules on who gets the TV remote and when, or who decides how to spend the family paycheck.
If you refer to society, through medicare, etc. paying the costs of addiction, I'd urge to solve that problem by favoring the elimination of those requirements rathering than legislating what all of us can and can't do.
I see you've gone from a young man to an OldPossum. Have you tried seeing a doctor for that?
Yeah. What a bad person he is.
(In case you hadn't noticed, Rush does a three hour a day extemporaneous radio program. This should give the detractors plenty of ammo. But that's not their method. They prefer to kneecap their oppostion.)

Behind the "addicts affect everyone" agrument you find the same dubious, false, and often outright reversed (e.g. the social costs of motorcycle head injuries) arguments as against red meat, cigarettes, alcohol, seatbelts laws, etc.
All of these "causes" are the invitation the government gives itself to make intrusive, freedom-killing, "soft cage" police-state laws. This is why your money is no longer yours, why your doctor no longer works for you, etc. What do want more? Freedom? Or the ability to use government tools to enforce "goodness" that goes well past the absence of real criminal behavior?
That's why all of us are so in favor of good FBI files.

Well, now, you're striking a discordant tone at this festival of boot-lickers!
The lawyers can't pervert the American legal system fast enough to maintain their cash-flow as it is.
Heavens! Can't have citizens making their own choices!
Onwards to the final triumph of American Socialism!
Um.../sarc.
Obviously you forgot that a failed blackmailer snitched on Rush, and that a prosecutor found those "oaths and affirmations" credible. With just one of the five Benjamins in my wallet I could buy the same statement about anyone, including Mr. Absolute Justice.
