Secondly, do you think HS should share whatever knowledge of terrorist cells there are (which may be under surveillance) with YOU?

Weather you like what ridge does or not or even pay attention to the alert level why would you bash something thats put there to try and help people be aware of dangerous situations

Because telling us this will not alter how we live our lives. It's purely cover your ass procedure. In case something happens they can say told you so.

If they do indeed know something it would be wise to see where the politicians in Washington are currently hanging out.

One or two days before 9/11, according to many sources, all scheduled plane trips by politicians were cancelled. Personally I'd love to know if that is true.

Close the borders?
I'm sure the idea never occurred to him, and if it had, he'd probably reccomend giving citizenship to all of Mexico.

We could close the borders if we made it unpleasant enough for Mexico, but we won't.

Watching Sec. Ridge's reaction to the 'red' question lead me to believe that the 'red' option was discussed, just not put in place at this time.

I got the same impression. What would it take for a "red alert"?

My daughter is only 4 1/2. She doesn't understand any of this. She's oblivious. She does know to be "careful" but can't figure out who is a "good" person and who is a "bad" person. She believes they should "look" a certain way. sigh ... .

I dread telling her about this crap - terror alerts and why people hate us. I wish I could give her my childhood. I fell bad for little kids today. It's a much different world than the 50's that I started out in.

Ok, please explain how tom Ridge could 'close the borders'. Also, explain how it is the only threat to the US comes from outside the borders. What about hte cells uncovered in Buffalo and Portland. How would closing the borders eliminate the threat of a terrorist attack here?

OK, I could tell you how but it would be easer if you just click on my name and look for some really long posts. Closing the border will not cure everything, but leaving them open is is not going to fix a damn thing.
